Job Summary:

As a Lead Product Designer, you will define and deliver outstanding features that simplify the lives of our viewers. From planning to design, and testing to rollout, you will use your design sensibility and strong interpersonal skills to lead the design work and collaborate with multiple teams across the company.

We are looking for people who are passionate about working with multi-faceted teams taking customer acquisition, activation, and business growth at Disney+ to the next level and innovating on a variety of UX features that showcase our world-class content from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic.

The role reports to the Director of Design in San Francisco, and you will be a part of an energetic and dynamic product design team that spans San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles, and Amsterdam.

Responsibilities:

What You’ll Do

  • Lead product design for the Disney+ Growth vertical, collaborating and coordinating work with horizontal design teams and refining design processes with a focus on user acquisition, payment processing, and commerce.
  • Apply your expert skills in application design, visual design, creative and analytical thinking, and productive workflows to design new products and improve existing ones.
  • Perform all functions of the product design lifecycle, including research, concepts, wireframes, prototypes, high fidelity mockups, documentation, and testing.
  • Contribute to product strategy by defining problems in insightful ways, understanding business needs, and innovating within technical constraints.
  • Follow a user-centered, evidence-backed, design process, understanding real users’ motivations, behaviors, and goals. We listen to our guests and let their needs guide us to the best solutions.
  • Articulate, negotiate, and refine design requirements in collaboration with product managers and engineers.
  • Design for a diverse audience, from first time visitors to power-users, with various levels of accessibility, in languages and regions across the globe.
  • Bring a holistic understanding of how different factors (aesthetics, user state, performance, copywriting, customer journey, etc.) impact the user experience.
  • Actively participate in feedback loops from design crits to stakeholder reviews to 1:1s.

Basic Qualifications:

Who You Are

  • You have 8+ years of experience designing at consumer-focused tech or media companies.
  • You have 1+ years of experience leading other designers either as a project lead or people manager
  • Craft and mastery in multiple design skills, design thinking, and design process.
  • Strong ability to prioritize work and resources across engagements based on short and long-term needs.
  • Experience designing solutions for growth, user onboarding and commerce
  • Open, transparent and data driven with your designs, sharing them early and often with peers and stakeholders.
  • Self-directed in managing your work. Proactive about communicating project progress, status, and workload.
  • Able to present and defend your design decisions to a variety of audiences.
  • Strategic, always considering how your work solves user, team and business needs.
  • A systems thinker, looking towards building sustainable and scalable solutions through reusable design patterns and libraries
  • Up-to-date with emerging design trends and technologies, eager to learn and share with the design team
  • Passion for evolving the design practice

This role is considered hybrid, which means the employee will work a portion of their time on-site from a Company designated location and the remainder of their time remotely.
