- This role is considered hybrid, which means the employee will work a portion of their time on-site from a Company designated location and the remainder of their time remotely.

Job Summary:

The Path Forward Return to Work program at Disney Streaming is a 16-week paid returnship (internship) for experienced professionals returning to the workforce after taking time off for caregiving. The program is open to individuals who have at least 5 years of professional experience and have been out of the paid workforce for at least two years to focus on caring for a child or other dependent. Disney Streaming is looking for experienced software engineers to add to a variety of teams across the organization. When you apply to this role you may be considered for a position on:

Hulu's User Content Interactions Platform Team

The Core Media Test Engineering & Tools team

Responsibilities will vary from team to team and you will learn about the particular responsibilities for your team during the interview process. In general you can expect to:

  • Partner with team members, product and engineering partners to deliver new features and fix project issues while developing specifications for assigned components, projects, or fixes. 

  • Write, perform tests, and debug code ensuring standards for readability and maintainability. 

  • Contribute to core software project needs and the evolution of the team's practices; recommending changes in development, coding, maintenance and system standards. 

  • Efficiently support software throughout the lifecycle. Perform technical maintenance and solving for components while maintaining clear documentation.

  • Participate in the code review to gain validated understanding of the fundamental knowledge of software systems.

  • Ideate, review design, build, code-review, test, load-test, launch, monitor performance.

  • Collaborate with other team members (including product owners, TPMs, and other business units) to achieve product and business requirements

Who You Are

  • You work diligently with stakeholders such as project and product management to suss out requirements to provide technical solutions and direction.

  • You are comfortable with ambiguity and be part of conversations where discordant views are present.

  • You have an excellent understanding of software development fundamentals and architecture, and you aren't dogmatic about technology choices.

What To Bring

  • BS or MS in Computer Science/Engineering

  • 5+ years of relevant software engineering experience

  • Proficiency with at least one of the following languages: Java, Python

Locations:

Hybrid work from New York City, San Francisco, Santa Monica, or Glendale.
