Do you like variety and a fast-paced environment? Lucasfilm is seeking a motivated, highly organized, and detailed oriented individual to help manage large-scale Star Wars events.
Strategy, Collaboration, and Execution are keywords for the Sr. Manager. On any given day, you might:
Work extensively with Senior Management, both at Lucasfilm and Disney, to strategize and recommend overall direction & positioning of events in concert with Lucasfilm's strategic goals.
Manage and plan Lucasfilm events budgets (including but not limited to: Celebration, San Diego Comic Con, D23, and global character appearances) and ensure they are executed within budget.
Act as a key planner and organizer for Star Wars fan-facing programming.
Assist the worldwide territories with resources, approval routing, planning, creative ideas, and assets for Star Wars events and exhibits.
Organize, plan, produce and be the main point of contact for Star Wars Celebrations. Liaise with Lucasfilm stakeholders, Disney event and marketing teams, licensees, and with event partner Reed Pop.
Organize and produce for the Star Wars pavilion at San Diego Comic-Con, D23, and other fan-facing conventions and trade shows. Plan, produce, and execute all levels of events, including stage productions and press events.
Provide strategic direction, mentorship, and day-to-day management oversight to Events Coordinator.
In partnership with Director, Communications & Internal Events, support the execution of inner-company events and meetings, as required. Provide management oversight to Events Coordinator during execution of these events.
Provide strategic direction, mentorship, and day-to-day management to Character Appearances Coordinator, including vetting ideas, overseeing approvals and costumes maintenance and actor references. Travel with actors to shoots, as required.
Provide leadership for Star Wars worldwide costumed character casting; head up casting for the Disney offices in the territories, as well as worldwide partners and licensees.
Basic Qualifications:Here are the skills and experience you need to be successful in this role:
- 8-10 years’ experience in event management, planning, and coordination. Experience in the technical aspects of entertainment events, highly preferred.
2-3 years’ experience leading a team of event organizers, producers, and executors. Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor a team.
Demonstrated experience in stage production, including sound and lighting operation, stage management, and audio/visual equipment and mediums.
Demonstrated experience managing, planning, and executing large, complex, event budgets while delivering within budgetary parameters.
Ability to prioritize multiple, changing projects in a dynamic, sometimes high-pressure environment.
Self-starter, willing and able to proactively drive event planning and execution in highly a collaborative way.
Ability to work with a variety of personalities and all levels of management, including the Lucasfilm team, international Disney teams, licensees, vendors, celebrities, entertainers, and members of the Star Wars fan community.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Valid driver’s license, and vehicle available for hauling show materials.
Valid passport. Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally.
Experience in Microsoft Office software required, particularly Excel. Experience with Photoshop preferred but not required.
Experience with Google Suite, preferred.
Deep knowledge of the Star Wars universe and fan community, highly desirable.
