ROLE SUMMARY

Hulu’s Data Product team is seeking a Senior Data Product Manager who will be an exceptional addition to our growing Data team. This role will be focused on the Data team’s Content division, which touches almost every aspect of running a successful subscription based video streaming business. 

The ideal candidate has deep familiarity with the big data ecosystem, data warehousing solutions, data processing pipelines and analytics platforms from a product management perspective. The candidate is capable of constructing and executing sophisticated, interlocking product solutions, and has demonstrated proficiencies in working both inside and outside the organization to deliver results for viewers, partners, and internal teams. The candidate has handled several multi-year product roadmaps simultaneously and is comfortable switching between deep technical discussions and setting strategic business directions. This candidate builds fantastic relationships across all levels of the organization and is recognized as a problem solver who looks to elevate the work of everyone around them.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  1. Define unique and differentiated vision, strategy, and roadmap for data products and capabilities aligned to organizational and business goals.
  2. Build strong relationships with technology and business teams across the organization and get a solid grasp of these stakeholders pain points and business outlook.
  3. Act as a Data strategist and subject matter expert for Content Data sets and seamlessly navigate every layer of the Data stack to identify opportunities where data can be leveraged for insights.
  4. Partner with a whole range of teams within the Data organization (Analytics, Data Science, Data Engineering, Data Architecture, Data Quality & Governance, Program Management) to deliver high impact, cost effective Data solutions.
  5. Lead and drive teams on all business readiness activities, including Business case development, product planning, sequencing, testing, user education, rollout, iteration, and support.
  6. Develop detailed product requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and success measures.
  7. Ability to identify risks, resolve key blockers, and establish appropriate resolution paths.
  8. Ability to fill in gaps across roles and functions as needed, performing as an adaptive problem solver.
  9. Ability to champion a collaborative work environment that cultivates shared understanding, transparency, autonomy, innovation, and continuous learning.

WHAT TO BRING

  1. Minimum of 5+ years of product management experience with strong focus on building and delivering successful data products, services and capabilities
  2. Strong foundational understanding of Big Data ecosystems to make trade-off decisions while developing end to end solutions on Cloud/On-Prem/Hybrid Data tech stack. 
  3. Experience balancing new product development with maintaining day-to-day data reporting operations in a very large scale enterprise set up
  4. Experience and comfort solving problems in an ambiguous environment where there is constant change. Have the tenacity to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, inspire change, and collaborate with a variety of individuals and organizational partners
  5. Experience utilizing both qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis techniques and familiarity with common data science models and approaches to problem-solving. Generally: the ability to plan for what analysts and data scientists need to deliver.
  6. Planning acumen and proven ability to break down work and define an MVP, as well as subsequent iterations
  7. Highly analytical and collaborative qualities with strong technical, strategic and problem-solving skills
  8. Experience demonstrating leadership, self-motivation, accountability and most importantly, driving change in a large matrixed organization
  9. Knowledge of the basic Statistical analysis concepts and Data science workflows, the terminology and the unique challenges associated with the domain

 NICE-TO-HAVES

  1. Undergraduate Degree in Engineering, Math, Science, Economics, or equivalent
  2. Advance CS degree or MBA is a plus
  3. Experience with Media or Entertainment Industry Data sets (Examples include Video Content Metadata, Box Office Performance, Nielsen Ratings etc.)
  4. Experience with data visualization and BI reporting tools (Tableau, Looker, Microstrategy etc.) coupled with strong storytelling skills for technical and non-technical audiences
  5. Experience or knowledge of basic programming (SQL, R, Python) and Data management technologies (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, MongoDB, Redis, Couchbase, AirFlow, MySQL etc.)
