Job Summary:

Disney’s Automated Operations team is seeking a Director, Automated Marketplaces who will be responsible for setting the strategy, direction and management of the teams that oversee operations for the biddable programmatic marketplaces and self-service platform. The Director, Automated Marketplaces will directly manage two Managers who lead their teams of specialists across Disney & Hulu brands. They will work directly with the programmatic sales team, self-service customer success team, ad platform, advanced operations, pricing, planning, inventory, and key third-party platforms (DSPs, SSPs, etc.). This includes the implementation of strategies introduced by senior management, providing guidance and education to the specialists, and driving operational efficiencies with our ad platform counterparts. The Director will be accountable for headcount planning, monitoring the performance of the team, the processes used, make recommendations for efficiencies in the workflow, systems used, and will provide growth and development opportunities for the group.

In this role you will report into the Head of Automated Operations and will work closely with the Revenue Management & Operations teams across the portfolio. The primary responsibility of the Director is to maximize operational efficiency and revenue across our PMPs, Invite Only Auction, and self-service platform. In this role it is important to create meaningful relationships within the organization, including Programmatic Account Management, Sales, and Ad Platform. The role requires that the organization sees you as the go-to subject matter expert on all things related to the Programmatic and Self-Service business verticals.

  • Leading and managing the direction of the team
  • Handling escalations and troubleshooting of any issues
  • Partner with key third-party vendors and platforms
  • Represent the Automated Ops org with technology, sales operations, pricing & planning
  • Initiating and overseeing projects that increase team’s efficiency and accuracy
  • Developing long-term training and education strategies for the team
  • Work with the VP to develop business rules and policies for the ops org to follow. Insure we’re in compliance with auditing policies
  • Representing Disney Ad Sales at industry events

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years experience in digital ad operations at a publisher, ad tech company, ad agency or ad network
  • Experience effectively leading and taking ownership and accountability of the performance of the team
  • Strong understanding of the programmatic technology ecosystem including DSPs, SSPs, and openRTB spec
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot CTV/OTT/Display auction and bid data
  • Familiarity with self-serve ad buying tools and platforms
  • Clear, strategic thinker with the ability to execute on priorities and who is not afraid to roll sleeves up
  • Ability to effectively work under pressure and loves to solve problems
  • Strong executive-level communication and presentation skills
  • Familiarity with live streaming ad insertion (DAI/SSAI)
  • Deep understanding of measurement vendors (i.e: Nielsen, Moat) and the operational complexities of measureable inventory vs. non-measureable inventory
  • Experience with and enthusiasm for an organization experiencing rapid changes

Required Education

  • BA/BS from an accredited college or university

This role is considered on-site, which means the employee will work from a Company designated location on an ongoing basis.
