Job Summary:

Disney Streaming’s Web Engineering team is seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager who will be an exceptional addition to our team. As a Senior Technical Program Manager at Disney Streaming, you will partner with Product Management to understand business and product needs, translate those needs to engineering requirements, and collaborate with all impacted teams and external partners to ensure a successful launch of the product or feature. 

This role will be embedded in our engineering team that focuses on content discovery and personalization on our web experience. The right person for this role is proficient in both technology and the language of product, marketing, and advertising. You will need to move and adapt quickly as needs change and rely on consumer data to help inform decisions. WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Collaborate with product managers and engineers on the Disney Streaming experience Roadmap and identify the necessary investments and dependencies to support execution and delivery

  • Develop tools and processes to improve software engineering productivity

  • Exercise technical judgment in working with large, cross-functional teams and influence architecture decisions

  • Build positive, trusting relationships through consistent, on-time delivery of commitments and effective communication

  • Work closely with stakeholders and product managers to ensure that requirements are translated to the technology requirements that subsequently drive the execution (plan, coordinate, manage) of software development from design through successful deployment.

  • Work with cross functional teams – technology, business, marketing and operations to manage multiple projects that have conflicting needs / priorities, using an Agile development framework, from concept to launch.

  • Scope projects into manageable chunks that enable us to quickly and efficiently release iterative products

  • Actively mentor and guide more junior team members to ensure best practices are being created and followed throughout the team

  • Own the Scrum/Agile process for Web Engineering scrum teams - including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog grooming

  • Ensure that the engineering teams you support have a well groomed backlog, meets their commitments on a regular basis, and is constantly looking for ways to positively impact their effectiveness

  • Leverage your knowledge of the technology stack as well as our customer’s needs to anticipate new opportunities

  • Leverage business metrics and KPIs to inform the software engineering roadmap and overall prioritization of work 

  • Identify inefficiencies in processes, and drive better, more efficient processes where needed for projects and features to be delivered optimally and on time

  • Play a leading role in managing the delivery of large cross functional projects spanning teams and divisions within Disney Streaming

  • Communicate project risks, progress, launches and retrospectives across all stakeholders and teams – consistently and transparently

  • Strive constantly to improve and establish a new bar in performance (using objective metrics) in project execution

WHAT TO BRING

  • 7+ years of experience in software program management

  • Experience in shipping multiple software features or products simultaneously

  • Expertise in Agile software development

  • Solid understanding of systems architecture, design, and implementation

  • Ability to exercise technical judgment in solving software engineering challenges

  • Expertise in actively identify dependencies/risks and work with engineering counterparts to mitigate these

  • Ability to interact with a diverse set of technical and non-technical partners

  • Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, written and verbal

NICE-TO-HAVES

  • Experience shipping Web Applications and working with web development teams

  • Experience in helping an engineering organization define and achieve operational/engineering excellence

  • Experience shipping entertainment and media applications on web
