A new startup group has launched within Disney-ABC Television with the skills and passion to prepare the way for that future and lead a data revolution. The Consumer Data & Analytics team is responsible for innovating, developing, and evangelizing cutting-edge data products and solutions.

Disney | ABC Television Group (DATG) is seeking a BI Systems Analyst to join our Consumer Data & Analytics (CD&A) team. As part of the Consumer Experience organization, CD&A’s charter is to develop industry-leading tools to deliver consumer intelligence that enable DATG to:
  • Better identify and seize untapped opportunities in the marketplace
  • Better predict the consequences of programming, marketing and distribution decisions
  • Demonstrate the value of our premium programming to advertisers and partners
  • Build viewer engagement and loyalty for our programming and platforms

The BI Systems Analyst’s primary role will be driving successful delivery and adoption of data warehousing and business intelligence capabilities to DATG. They will be responsible for developing productive partnerships with business stakeholders and technical team members, as well as producing, grooming, prioritizing, and overall timely management of the requirements product backlog and developing user acceptance criteria. They will drive business readiness, adoption and change management activities and will report on the impact of the solutions on the business. The ideal candidate will have a deep knowledge of data warehousing, business intelligence, business case analysis, and agile methodologies. The BI Systems Analyst will report to the Sr. Manager, Consumer Intelligence Planning & Integration.

Responsibilities

  • Develop exceptional relationships with business stakeholders and translate their business needs and long term visions into functional requirements for data and business intelligence solutions
  • Gather requirements for projects by conducting interviews, work flow analysis, process analysis, and observation sessions
  • Create project charters and approval request documentation
  • Facilitate and clarify customer business needs and translate them into data and reporting requirements via concise and effective user stories
  • Foster Agile principles and methods for requirements gathering
  • Define precise and accurate User Story acceptance criteria that will be used by developers, automation test frameworks and by product owners to ensure that product owner intent is effectively captured
  • Partner with clients to develop user acceptance testing (UAT) specifications and training plans; facilitate and ensure successful delivery and completion of UAT and training
  • Arrange client reviews of solutions under development, ensuring client satisfaction
  • Work with the business to ensure business adoption and measure impact of solutions on the business

Basic Qualifications

  • Business, Finance or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Five or more years of experience in a systems analyst role with strong quantitative and analytical skills and a proven track record of turning large amounts of multi-faceted data into meaningful information, preferably within the media and entertainment industry.
  • Experience using relational database systems (data warehouse) and business intelligence tools (Tableau, Birst, Redshift, etc.)
  • Knowledge of data modeling and data driven decision making.
  • Awareness and desire to work with complex data analytics, data products, and Big Data technologies.
  • Project experience with the proven ability to work on multiple projects concurrently leveraging excellent organization and time-management skills.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams to create specifications for reports and analysis based on business needs.
  • Experience providing business-related/and or technical subject matter expertise on large, highly complex reporting projects to support management, multifunctional departments, staff members, and peers.
  • Experience with technical disciplines related to data warehousing and business intelligence

Ideal candidate will demonstrate the following characteristics:

  • Strategic Insight: ability to understand the broader business and information strategies, priorities, issues and opportunity areas when making recommendations and decisions; someone who is inquisitive to challenge the status quo and understands how their program investments support key business priorities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with very large data sets, data containing PII, and data warehoused across several first, second, and third party applications
  • Experience working with reference data and Master Data Management tools
  • Experience working with marketing and response data from various media channels, including television, social media, online video, search, email, mobile, and SMS
  • Experience working with digital and mobile environment data, including online behavior tracking, video players, apps, cookies, and device IDs
  • Experience working with data for the media/publishing/digital industry, including Nielsen ratings, rate card, GRPs, and inventory forecasts

Required Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Math, Statistics, Business, Finance or related field; or equivalent experience.
