Job Summary:

Here at Disney, our Enterprise Technology area is seeking a versatile and motivated Software Engineering Manager to lead a team of developers building product APIs. The successful candidate will help cultivate an environment where people can do their best work through strategic thinking, mentorship, and career advocacy! You will own the delivery and quality of our commitments to our customers, and collaborate across Disney to ensure appropriate prioritization. You should have a passion for servant leadership, team building, and engaged development.

In this role you will be responsible for leading multiple developers who design, build, and maintain APIs and services to support our products. This position will require daily connections with multiple groups including product engineers, engineering managers, reliability engineers, third-party support engineers, and software vendors.

Responsibilities:

  • Build a diverse & prolific software development team through a combination of training, career development, recruiting, and process improvement

  • Lead by example to design technical solutions and ensure that all software conforms to the highest quality standards

  • Collaborate with product engineers and other business partners to prioritize work and set goals for the team

  • Refine engineering practices and enact positive change within the team

  • Foster your team's work across the organization

  • Regularly report on status and team health, while identifying gaps and needs for your leadership

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of technical experience, including 2+ years in an engineering leadership role

  • Ability to write documentation and communicate technical topics with clarity

  • Ability to communicate across multiple teams

  • Experience delivering platform services using open-source technologies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise with cloud-native services leveraging serverless technologies

  • Solid understanding of JavaScript, web stacks, libraries, and frameworks

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or relevant experience

The hiring range for this position in California is $164,492 to $220,600 per year and in Washington State is $172,282 to $231,110 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
