To be successful in this role, you will protect, operate, and continuously improve the automation and systems that run Disney's experiences, products, & services with a focus on availability, latency, automation, & cross-company collaboration while embracing a DevOps culture. 

The Senior Systems Reliability Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing solutions using best practices in the maintenance and administration of enterprise systems, including software, platform, and infrastructure. Teams operate in a fast-paced dynamic environment supporting a variety of sophisticated systems and applications for the Walt Disney Company and affiliated business. This person will partner closely with business and technology leadership in delivering systems, which meet and exceed business objectives. 

Responsibilities 

What will you be doing? 

  • Collaborate and provide technical leadership within and across teams 

  • Code, and deploy systems, define, and establish standard processes in cloud hosting environments using self-healing, infrastructure-as-code, security, and automation patterns 

  • Develop useful telemetry, alerts, and response to identify and address reliability risks 

  • Participate in on-call rotation with other engineering teams 

  • Identify, experiment, & evangelize new technologies, ideas, and standard methodologies across the broader engineering community

  • Ability to identify root-cause sources of instability in a high-traffic, large-scale distributed system 

  • Configuration management and orchestration (e.g., Chef, Terraform, Cloud Formation) 

  • One or more languages in your skillset (e.g., GO, Python, Java, Ruby) 

  • Containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Mesos, Elastic Container Service) 

  • Skilled in Cloud/PaaS Environments (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud Compute) 

  • Thorough knowledge of continuous integration tools (e.g., Jenkins) 

  • UNIX/Linux administration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, & security 

  • Configuration management and orchestration (e.g., Chef, Ansible, Terraform, Cloud Formation) 

Basic Qualifications 

  • 5 years of experience in technical operations or systems reliability engineering 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience 

  • Experience with AWS, Google, or similar cloud computing environments. 

  • Proven track record in an Agile development environment 

  • Experience working in a high capacity, highly scalable mission critical web serving environment 

  • Excellent judgment, problem resolution, team building, negotiation, and decision-making skills as well as the ability to work under continual deadline pressure 

  • UNIX/LINUX and some Windows server experience, including expertise in system installation, configuration, administration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, preventative maintenance, capacity planning, monitoring, and security procedures 

  • Web (IIS, Apache) and Java application (Tomcat, Jboss, etc) server expertise including installation, administration, configuration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, preventative maintenance, capacity planning, monitoring, and security procedures 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Familiar with Distributed Data Platforms.  

  • Experience with SAP S/4, SAP HANA  

  • Load balancing and rule-based routing 

The hiring range for this position in Seattle, WA is $142,516 to $191,180 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
