Job Summary:

Technical Specialist is a professional leadership role for high achieving experts in their respective discipline. Specialists will be deeply involved in maintenance planning and incident response as well as development of new offerings for Shanghai Disney Resort. Technical Specialist roles will act as team leader and oversee execution related to their discipline resort wide.


  • You will conduct formal and informal show audits to ensure operation and maintenance procedures are faithfully executed;
  • You will ensure continuity across the resort in the area of your discipline;
  • You will oversee training activities related to your discipline and ensure training materials are effective (and update as required);
  • You will develop training, maintain requirement and operation guideline content as necessary:
  • To improve operational efficiency and/or safety;
  • For equipment replacements and approved show changes;
  • For Seasonal, Special Event, and new productions.
  • You will review and provide input on new standards (Statutory, Company, and Industry) and Safety Alerts. Provide compliance reporting and work with Show Teams on implementing and closing out any action Items;
  • You will work closely with Maintenance Planning team and stakeholders develop and manage long term plan for your department;
  • You will maintain resort global inventory of equipment within your discipline and support venue tech-pack documentation and warehouse/R&M related efforts to track and maintain stock;
  • You will act as subject matter expert for the development of new projects, advising on feasibility, providing equipment/system specifications and submitting budget information and M&O projections;
  • You will be involved in some projects, typically the very large but also small special events, will utilize outside design and production resources. To assist these external resources, Specialists will need to liaise on Venue specifications, Shanghai Disney resort equipment inventories, standards, practices, onsite regulations and compatibility. Specialists should develop and keep relevant documentation updated to facilitate these external resources and plan onsite support to make sure these activities run smoothly;
  • You will work with Technical team to find equipment substitutions and upgrades as technology changes and equipment becomes obsolete or in need of end of life replacement. Design team is expected stay informed on equipment and software development to help SHDR stay current and maintain a high level of reliability;
  • You will ensure a safe show environment for guests and cast members, and adhere to operations and safety guidelines;
  • You will work closely with park operations, safety, maintenance, entertainment production and technical services to ensure the smooth and safe show operation;
  • You will maintain performance quality and company standards, observe all technical aspects of cast and crew performance, and provide work direction and feedback.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in related field of study;
• Three or more years of experience; theme park entertainment or Disney-related work experience a plus;
• Strong leadership and communication skills, requiring the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with creative and production teams, other business units, all levels of management and staff;
• Comfortable working in a multi-tasking, fast-paced and multi-variable environment;
• Strong influencing and negotiation skills;
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to optimize operational processes;
• Outstanding organizational, collaborative and leadership skills;
• Ability to give effective feedback and share creative new ideas. Maintenance and enforcement of policies and processes;
• Basic knowledge and understanding of show production;
• Fluency in Mandarin and good command of spoken and written English.
