Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute onboard communication strategies supporting print and/or digital media
  • Ensure appropriate communication and collateral tools are used within the operation
  • Conduct monthly audits to evaluate all collateral and onboard media; ensure finished product adheres to Corporate brand and Company guidelines
  • Oversee creation and daily production of Guest media; this includes but is not limited to:
    • Personal Navigator and applicable inserts (design/print)
    • Port Adventure literature (design/print)
    • Signage highlighting onboard specials and events for Food & Beverage, Retail, Spa, etc. (print/digital signage)
    • Maintain, monitor and edit all scheduled information on the onboard mobile app
  • Manage and execute all shipwide print needs in a timely manner, and approximate weekly quantities
  • Proofread and edit all collateral prior to final distribution; evaluate and ensure product is show ready with accurate spelling, grammar, alignment and formatting
  • Order necessary supplies supporting print shop operation; maintain appropriate inventory
  • Trouble-shoot equipment within onboard print shop; partner with Engineering team for routine maintenance and service
  • Oversee execution of new technology implementation (i.e. mobile app) and/or enhancements
  • Responsible for accuracy of text programming showcased on digital media plasma screens; address and partner with IT and Broadcast to quickly troubleshoot and resolve unexpected issues
  • Establish and communicate shipwide media deadlines; hold leaders accountable to ensure timely receipt of necessary changes; update One Source accordingly
  • Maintain, update and test Navigator InDesign templates pulled from One Source to ensure content accuracy
  • Execute processes to ensure One Source is accurate; this includes but is not limited to identifying and creating content, gaining approval, submitting and tracking request to completion
  • Partner and collaborate with other shipboard Guest Communicators and shoreside partners to ensure consistency amongst the fleet
  • Participate in Emergency Duties as specified in the ship Assembly Stations and Emergency Functions Plan
  • SMS - uphold the general safety management responsibilities in areas and operations under their control

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum two years experience in printer/desktop publishing type role
  • College degree or related schooling relating to multi-media, computer graphics, or desktop publishing
  • Strong attention to detail with ability to prioritize and distribute workflow
  • Manage and meet strict printing deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong knowledge of proper English usage, grammar and spelling
  • Strong adherence to Associated Press or similar writing style
  • Ability to work independently without constant supervision
  • Proven knowledge and computer skills using word processing and scanning, spreadsheets and graphics programs like Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator
  • Familiarity with Xerox high speed printers

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Web-based Content Management Systems (WCM), Content Workflow Management or Use of Content Entry Template
  • Knowledge of CMS software programs such as Open Text, Vignette, WordPress, Joomla, Drupal or Hippo
  • Familiarity of One Source a plus
  • Familiarity of Infocaster program a plus

This is a SHIPBOARD role.

Applicants must:

  • Be genuinely interested in a career at sea and willing to live and work onboard a Disney Cruise Line vessel
  • Be committed to the position you are applying for at least 2-3 contracts before a transfer or promotion
  • Be willing to follow and perform safety role, emergency duties and/or associated responsibilities as specified in the ship Assembly Plan
  • Be willing and able to uphold the general safety management responsibilities specified in the Safety Management System in areas and operations under their control
  • Be willing to follow and embrace United States Public Health requirements and guidelines as well as Environmentality requirements and Company practices
  • Be willing to be appreciative of working and living in a multi-cultural environment
  • Be comfortable living in a confined space with strict rules and regulations
  • Adhere to a structured lifestyle, personally and professionally

Your Responsibilities:

  • Have a valid passport and C1/D Seaman's visa (DCL will provide you with documents to obtain this)
  • Complete a pre-employment medical
  • Obtain a criminal background check
  • Bring approved work shoes
