Source, identify and manage the creative and commercial development, strategy, pipeline and production of animated series (long and short form) and associated digital content for Disney’s branded platforms, ensuring a pipeline of high rating series per year are delivered on time and on brand, at the maximum level of quality permitted by each series.


Supervise the creative management of all regional animated series projects, including long form and digital content, as well as local, franchise and development projects as required. Guide the creative approach at all stages to align with wider business strategy.

Serve as the lead creative executive on current series productions, reviewing all production stages and ensuring all notes are delivered on time. Work closely with Production Management, Compliance and international creative teams to ensure timely, consistent "one voice" feedback from Disney and on time delivery of content.

Select and hire additional freelance resources as needed. Manage key external relationships with showrunners, writers, directors, producers and studio executives on each major production and development project, serving as the main Disney contact for all content development.

Manage internal stakeholders in other departments and lines of business--eg Programming, Marketing, Consumer Products, Media Distribution -- keeping them updated on production progress and supplying creative assets and guidance as needed. Present the animation slate internally and externally as required. Build relationships with Senior Management to ensure buy in to creative direction, and obtain all necessary approvals at key milestones. Work with Disney Legal and Procurement teams on all necessary paperwork, contracts and rights management.

Research and develop new talent and new projects, working with regional and international writers, creators, designers, animators and studios. Maintain a strong profile within the Asian and global creative communities, to make Disney the first choice for talent and give our projects a competitive edge. Develop and propose new "out of the box" ideas for series, short form and non-linear content. Optimize co-production finance solutions (animation development funding bodies, schools and institutions, financiers, etc) and find new production models, and contribute to long term strategic plans for staying ahead of audience and industry trends.

Represent the company at industry events and external meetings as needed.

Basic Qualifications

Substantial, proven experience as a lead creative executive on long form animated series projects, with a minimum 5 years experience
Substantial, proven experience delivering creative excellence on a range of budgets and production models, including wholly-owned studio series and low cost acquisitions
Strong creative reputation and strong network of contacts and relationships
Exemplary writing skills and knowledge of script structure; experience as a staff writer or story editor ideal
Ability to manage and direct creative talent, with a track record of successfully negotiating differences of opinion
Knowledge of target audience and interest in entertainment geared at the demographic
Ability to manage and mentor junior executives

Preferred Qualifications

  • Clear-thinking, straightforward approach to creative problem-solving and decision making
  • Strong ability to build working relationships with other Disney departments and executives, and with external partners
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with knowledge of at least one other Asian language preferred
  • Detailed working knowledge of current animation production processes, including character design, storyboarding, art direction, 2D & 3D digital animation, voice directing, music production, compositing, sound mixing and post-production
  • Time management and organizational skills
