Senior Manager, Buying and Planning, shopDisney APAC

- This role is considered hybrid, which means the employee will work a portion of their time on-site from a Company designated location and the remainder of their time remotely.

Job Summary:

This role is a key position in driving success of Product Buying & Planning for shopDisney APAC:

  • Accountability for overall product strategy, buy, pricing & planning

  • Creation regional and local ranging/partnership solutions that are optimized for local audience

  • Execution of product plan in line with sales & margin targets

  • Represent SD APAC in Regional & Global discussions & alignment around a Product vision for, and influence provide regional input into global product development team to support development of regional needs

  • Maximize leverage of merchandise & planning expertise, knowledge to develop best practices across team and areas of influence

Key Responsibilities

Planning Oversight:

  • Plan, manage and communicate buy plan from initial insights to exit strategy

  • Analyze trends, shopping behavior and competitor to ensure optimal mix of products and well-constructed ranges

  • Present range plans, forecasts and strategies in key meetings including sales, margin and inventory at the category, franchise, style level

  • Develop and execute financial & trading plans by segment, by category and by franchise, that support KPIs of shopDisney APAC

  • Partner with insights and finance to create & communicate a deep understanding of APAC shopDisney product performance to refine assortment and predict and plan for challenges & opportunities

Product Assortment & Merchandising Oversight:

  • Develop a consumer-centric  range plan, aligning product assortment with big bets and seasonal / thematic events and franchise & category opportunities.

  • Develop, in partnership with Marketing & Digital experience team, a weekly product launch plan ensuring newness and excitement for APAC shopDisney

  • Drive commercial top-line and bottom-line growth on shopDisney through the ownership of local pricing

  • Work in close partnership with market trading teams to gain insights on sales trends, consumer’s online shopping behavior and competitor analysis to deliver an optimal, trend-right & consumer-centric product assortment on shopDisney

Third Party Licensee/Vendor Management & Product Development:

  • Identify and influence onboarding of Local partnerships & PD

  • Manage onboarding of key partners hips with third party licensees, formulating assortment & buy plans that are appropriate for shopDisney.

  • Enable third party discussions, including pricing & margins strategy

  • Work in partnership with local supplies & third party licensees to develop exclusive & unique offers for shopDisney

  • Unlock product development & ranging process with product development, creative, sourcing & product integrity teams

Site Merchandising:

  • Overarching vision of how products & categories should come to life on shopDisney site and work hand in hand with drive digital experience and site merchandising to execute this vision

  • Partner with Global teams (Buying, Planning Site production, Site Merchandising) on the process of product handoff/enhancement to ensure product content integrity on shopDisney



  • Minimum 12 years’ experience in retail buying or planning, including team management

  • Proven experience working in consumer retail environments with an appreciation of eCommerce business is critical

  • Proven experience in working on partnerships with external vendors/licensees is critical

  • Proven track record in managing and implementing merchandising & planning for APAC region

  • Experience building or optimising end-to-end product buying or planning process

  • Proven experience working cross-functionally in a matrixed organisation

  • Proven experience in working in dynamic, Global, cross-cultural team

  • Proven experience in eCommerce merchandise will be highly considered

  • Excellent analytical, commercial and strategic approaches to problem solving. strong experience interpreting test results & drawing conclusions. Exposure to relevant analytical and data management systems and reporting types

  • Strong influencing skills with the ability to achieve buy-in at all levels, especially with peers and leadership team. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English

  • Must be motivated, highly organized, flexible and results oriented. Have high sense of energy and service orientation to meet deadlines in a high-pressure environment

  • Strong planning and execution skills: able to multitask or manage several projects concurrently with minimum supervision

  • Demonstrated strong business judgment and decision-making skills; ability to identify, prioritize, and articulate highest impact initiatives

  • Demonstrable creative thinking, with a passion for delivering the best Disney/Pixar/Star Wars/Marvel product and services

  • You are comfortable working in a start up environment, take ownership, an inventive problem-solver, and maintain a high level of accountability
