Job Summary:

The Senior Manager – Standards & Practices consults, advises & guides teams in content review, ensuring that there are no violations/viewer complaints.

Responsibilities:

  • Consults, advises & guides teams in content review, ensuring that there are no violations/viewer complaints.
  • Ensures the protection of the business interest from an on-air censorship perspective by enabling creativity without violating the law of the land.
  • Develop talent in the department and implementing measures to increase productivity and optimizing work process flow
  • Promote systemic innovation and growth by collaborating with allied teams and stakeholders.
  • Preview/vetting general entertainment programs, factual, music clips and commercials, ensure they are made acceptable for air on linear and non-linear platforms within APAC markets.
  • Issue notes for all programming content that may include excessive violence, unacceptable language, sexually explicit material, imitable behavior, commercial product placement and graphic visuals etc that might be unacceptable for air.
  • Inform & communicate with Programming, Production, and/or Network Operations of any outstanding issues so they can be resolved before air date.
  • The nature of the work performed may require discussion of sensitive subjects including foul language, sexual scenes, etc. that appears in advertisements and programming submitted for review.
  • Role is supervisory in nature and is responsible for management & development of a large team.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Familiar with the Broadcasting Codes of Practices: Malaysia - CMCF, Singapore - IMDA, HK - CA, Taiwan - NCC, Indonesia - KPI, Philippines – KBP China – NRTA, Korea – KCC, Thailand – NBTC & Vietnam (MIC) etc is highly preferred.
  • Ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into clear and intelligible guidance for the business.
  • Compliance experience in broadcast environment, implementing commercial rules and advising teams on commercial regulations within APAC.
  • Should have Bachelor's Degree. Master's degree and/or Law degree is preferred.
  • Must be a self-starter with critical thinking skills and able to multitask.
  • Must possess ability to handle difficult situations or people interactions diplomatically.
  • Experience and familiarity with television production is highly preferred.
  • Compliance experience in broadcast environment, implementing commercial rules and advising teams on commercial regulations within APAC.
  • Any additional South East Asian language (other than Mandarin) is required
