Video Producer - ESPN

The ESPN Video Producer is accountable for a range of field and post-production responsibilities with a focus on Digital content. Reporting to the Senior Editor, this role is an integral part of facilitating ESPN goals of localisation and synergy support by way of a range of productions. This includes news reporting in the field, interstitials, short-form, integrated or ad-funded content and hosted studio-based executions for digital, mobile and linear platforms.


  • Consult, oversee and drive the creative direction of projects
  • Produce, write, shoot, direct and edit short-form content and hosted links for a range of digital objectives, in studio and on location in support of commercial objectives for ESPN
  • Adhere and manager project budgets, drive production schedules, crew engagement and bookings, oversee post production and internal processes while maintaining regular communication with the ESPN’s Australian Editorial Team and Finance Manager, and the international Video Team
  • Oversight of all key areas of projects undertaken from inception through to delivery to ESPN’s platforms, channels and social media channels
  • Producing, directing, mentoring and liaising with on-air talent and their Managers
  • Liaise with other departments within the company (including Disney Content Services) when required for group initiatives involving franchise, synergy and Digital support

  • Assist with story ideas in brainstorming meetings across ESPN
  • Assist with other writing, shooting and editing of an ad hoc nature
  • Liaise with local Media Management regarding delivery of content to ESPN’s international offices
  • Work with the Channels Line Producer in the management of Channels and ESPN assets in relation to the timely ingestion and archiving of rushes and graphic assets
  • Regular care and maintenance of internal camera equipment
  • Regular contact with internal stakeholders to build strategic partnerships and networks across Disney & ESPN businesses

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum demonstrated 5 years’ experience within a television or content organisation
  • Proven track record as an experienced camera person
  • Proven track record editing a range of content from short form to long form
  • Demonstrated producing, directing, scriptwriting and development skills
  • Deep understanding of the post-production process
  • Proven track record generating basic graphic elements for Digital and Social pieces
  • Short form experience essential
  • Long form and hosted format experienced desired
  • Proven track record producing content specifically for Social Media
  • Demonstrated understanding of Australia’s sports landscape and sporting culture, in particular AFL, NRL, Cricket, Soccer, Rugby and Basketball
  • Experience in sport production or an eagerness to learn an advantage
  • Ability to work both autonomously and as a team player in a dynamic environment;
  • Ability to work within budgetary and deadline constraintt
  • Strong nonlinear editing skills (FCP/ Premiere or Avid)
  • Scriptwriting and strong written skills essential – an ability to write for talent, including known sporting identities
  • Deep knowledge of broadcast camera and editing equipment essential
  • Media management experience essential
  • Deep understanding of the post-production process from inception through to delivery

Preferred Qualifications

  • Photoshop and After Effects experience an advantage
