Job Summary:

ILM is currently hiring Crowd Technical Directors at all levels and often in multiple locations. We are hiring across all levels for this discipline 

Your role?

The main focus of the position will be to create crowd simulations for our CG scenes, using either off the shelf or our own proprietary software to populate cities, large scale environments and choreograph battles.

What You’ll Do

  • Create the motion of crowds

  • Animate and simulate shots or sequences

To be a contributing member of this team, you will have a mix of these skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Houdini Software

  • Strong crowd and layout skills including asset integration, scene setup and running simulations

  • Experience working on high end VFX or animated feature-film productions

  • Experience working with motion capture and/or clip-based animation

  • Proficiency with Linux 

  • Strong communication skills

  • Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines whilst maintaining a high quality output

  • Nice to have:

    • Working understanding of Vex and/or Python

    • Strong understating of Houdini input/output pipeline

    • Experience with cloth/hair simulation

    • Working knowledge of Maya and rigging

    • Keen eye for how crowds flock and move
