Director, Corporate Strategy and Business Development

Job Summary:

As we position the business for further growth and maintain our focus on creating high-quality entertainment experiences, and effectively build local and Disney franchises in North Asia (Japan, China, Korea, Hong Kong & Taiwan), the Corporate Strategy and Business Development Team is charged with identifying profitable growth by targeting emerging businesses new to Disney's existing portfolio, managing cross-divisional issues and opportunities, and evaluating new technology and business models.

We are seeking a Strategy and Business Development senior professional to lead company-wide strategic planning and new business development projects (organic growth or M&A/Strategic Partnership) for North Asia with a focus on Japan.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

I. Strategic planning and implementation of strategies
- Lead Disney’s annual strategic planning process for Japan by closely working with all LOBs/Functions
- Support and lead in the development and execution of key global/regional growth initiatives
- Conduct research and extract insights from internal and external sources, e.g. macroeconomic trends, industry outlook, market and competitor intelligence and develop strategic implications for the business
- Develop metrics to track execution and performance
- Provide ongoing analytical support

II. Identification and evaluation of M&A/strategic partnership opportunities
- Conduct research and develop strategic rationale
- Identify/screen targets
- Evaluate targets through business and financial analysis
- Participate and support negotiations, the process of term sheet and agreement development
- Guide external agencies to conduct due diligence
- Manage deal closing and transition to operational team

III. Identification & Evaluation of new business opportunities
- Identify new business opportunities to drive growth
- Independently and/or manage third party consultancy/agency to conduct research and analysis to evaluate the opportunities
- Perform business/financial analyses and build business plans

IV.Create compelling, persuasive presentation materials to communicate key learnings and recommendations to senior level executives

- Potential and Existing business partners
- Industry experts

ACCOUNTABILITIES

This is a key support position in the North Asia team (with a focus on Japan) in leading strategy thinking by providing timely data, analyses, and perspectives to facilitate decision-making by senior management.

Basic Qualifications:

Education
- Graduate of a top Japanese or overseas university, preferably with a major in Business Administration, Finance, Management or Economics.
- MBA from top-tier global business school (preferred)

Previous Work (or other requisite) Experience
- 5-10 years’ experience in analytical positions at top tier strategy consulting firms, investment banks, or relevant function at multinational corporations, with exposure to strategy formation, business development, and M&A/investment evaluation in Japan
- Media/Consumer Industry background preferred
- Strong experience in creating PowerPoint presentations for senior management
- Experience with financial modeling
- Project management skills and ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work in a fast paced environment

Languages
Fluent Spoken/Written English and Japanese
