Walt Disney Animation Studios has an exciting opportunity for Environment Look Development Artists to join the team at our Vancouver, BC studio. Our Environment Look Development Artists are responsible for creating the materials, textures, and geometric instances that define the look of our environments, sets, and props. We value self-motivated artists who thrive in a collaborative environment. This is a regular, full time, staff position.
Hybrid and Remote opportunities for our Vancouver Studio are specific to remote work within the province of British Columbia. Please note that relocation eligibility may be determined based on role and individual circumstance.
Responsibilities:
Work closely with asset supervisors and production designers to develop the look of the environments of our animated films
Author materials, textures, procedural instancing and organic vegetation
Bring assets to technically efficient and artistically appealing final completion
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in digital art, computer graphics, or related field
3+ years of professional experience in Environment Look Development
Ability to understand, interpret and implement highly stylized art direction
Strong technical skills toward achieving an art-directable aesthetic
Ability to work closely with others in a collaborative environment
Knowledge of materials and procedural geometry
Proficiency in texturing and digital painting
Physically-based rendering experience
Maya experience
Linux experience
Understanding the production pipeline
Shader-writing and scripting knowledge is beneficial
Character Look Development experience is a plus
.The hiring range for this position in British Columbia, Canada is C$87,210 to C$145,420 per year. This hiring range covers candidates who are considered experienced to expert level. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A full range of medical, financial, and/or other variable pay or benefits, may be offered dependent on the level and position offered.
