JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Description:

  • Manage the preparation and distribution of the consolidated financial statements while maintaining the highest quality, reliability and accuracy.

  • Coordinate, develop and update written policies and procedures over the financial reporting process to comply with internal control requirements and record keeping.

  • Manage relationship with key shareholder, National Geographic Society (NGS), including but not limited to the preparation and presentation of consolidated financial statements, assist with agreed upon procedures, coordinate timely payment of distributions, etc.

  • On a quarterly and annual basis, build, review and submit a broad portfolio of reports for SEC disclosure to the respective Disney Segments.  
  • On a quarterly basis, prepare and submit P&L and BS commentary notes addressing the fluctuations analysis of actuals to prior year/prior quarter and to forecast as requested by the Disney Segment Controllership, as well as to NGS.

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with managers and staff and facilitate financial results and ad-hoc analyses on demand.

  • Manage company’s internal and external audits requests by Disney Segment Controllership or independent external auditors.

  • Support with month-end and year-end closing.

  • Participate in other projects as required.

Minimum Education and Experience Required

  • B.S. Accounting, CPA preferred, minimum of 5-7 years of accounting experience, including positions with managerial responsibilities.  Public accounting experience with exposure to SEC and Financial Reporting.  Strong knowledge of US GAAP and SEC Rules and Regulations is highly desired.

 Knowledge and Skills Required 

  • Strong PC skills including Microsoft Office applications and enterprise GL solutions. 
  • Advance Excel skills required
  • SAP experience preferred

  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize workload, manage time efficiently, and meet required deadlines. 
  • Ability to plan, lead, and motivate staff.
