Nat Geo Media, which resides in Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution (DMED), is the digital publisher of National Geographic's signature content, breath taking photography, iconic magazine, and unsurpassed social media presence. This team is responsible for engaging our audience with fantastic storytelling and pulling them into a recurring revenue relationship with Nat Geo. The Nat Geo Media team covers everything on the consumer journey, from print, digital, social, and audio content creation, generating awareness through social and newsletters, acquisition, and retention marketing, print operations, international licensing, and digital platforms. Nat Geo Media aims to become the largest publisher for everyone passionate about exploring the world and learning how to care for it.
The Partner Development and Solutions Manager will work alongside the Director of Partner Development to optimize advertising revenue opportunities that will exceed revenue goals. And evaluate consumer revenue opportunities that sit outside of advertising with an eye toward developing new revenue streams including commerce from affiliate sales.
Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:
Develop an integrated commerce strategy and platform in partnership with Editorial that further monetizes Nat Geo’s global fanbase:
Build, own, and maintain relationships with DTC advertisers, networks
Partner with the editorial team to identify areas for campaign optimization, new placements opportunities, and emerging brands of interest to cover or include in future articles
Build process flow and/or reporting to communicate with editorial team commission rates and affiliate merchant promotions/deals/new products across multiple affiliate platforms
Drive and maintain the highest possible commission rates across our affiliate commerce content
Build compelling brand partnership packages around travel and Nat Geo’s annual franchises (ie: Year in Pictures):
Partner with the Global Nat Geo Disney Ad Sales teams to identify new ad revenue opportunities
Support partner sales communications and process as needed
Work with digital strategy and digital editorial teams to assess viability of new platform features as part of packages and additional sponsorship opportunities (ie: Newsletters)
Support partner development including negotiating deal terms, assessing performance, communicating needs and resolving issues.
Collaborate across TWDC to identify existing partnerships that can serve to advance Nat Geo’s growth objectives.
Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training:
5 years in media with experience in business development, partner management, ad sales, account mgmt.
Experience in developing sponsorship media packages
Experience managing an affiliate commerce programs.
Experience negotiating deal terms and navigating contracts.
Knowledge of travel industry and trends a plus.
Ability to travel as needed.
BA/BS from a four-year accredited college or university
Self-starter with curiosity, creativity, and resourcefulness
Strong strategic skills that provide business insight and support decision-making
Ability to lead, listen and communicate effectively across functions and levels
A collaborative, team player who is comfortable pivoting as priorities change
The hiring range for this position in New York is $114,576 to $143,220 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
