We're seeking an experienced Audio Producer who can make captivating, original content for our award-winning, flagship podcast, Overheard at National Geographic. The Producer will work closely with a Senior Editor, Senior Producer, and the show's Hosts to develop and write episodes. He or she must have be able to make complex ideas understandable and approachable. He/she should be creative, curious, driven, and a rigorous journalist.


  • Develop narrative arcs for sort-form, weekly podcast; works closely with Senior Producer and Senior Editor to develop episodes.
  • Participate in all stages of the production process, including research, reporting, pitching, interviewing, cutting tape, scripting, editing, and mixing.
  • Researches story ideas; books guests for engaging and informative interviews.
  • Develops and coaches host and contributor talent; expertly directs in-studio recordings.
  • Collaborate on Live Episodes of Overheard at National Geographic, taped in front of a live audience. .


  • At least 4 years experience producing radio/podcasts.
  • BA or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral.
  • Excellent skills in ProTools audio editing software.
  • Strong research and journalism skills; experience transforming complex ideas into engaging storytelling; experience reporting science, environment, and social science stories; journalism ethics.
