Job Summary:

ABC NEWS WASHINGTON is hiring a PRODUCER/REPORTER in the POLITICAL UNIT.

This is a Project position and employment will continue on this Project (at the company’s sole discretion), and in no event shall extend past the completion of the Project.

Responsibilities:

The producer/reporter will report political stories for all ABC News platforms, including digital, television, and radio. The person will be responsible for original reporting, including developing and maintaining sources. The ideal candidate is a digitally savvy journalist who can work quickly and smartly in a highly competitive, digital-first environment to generate story ideas and pitches, maintain and oversee databases, and work with internal and external partners on political research projects. Familiarity with ABC News platforms, an ability to communicate well with correspondents and senior editorial leaders, and experience turning fast copy on various platforms are musts in this job. Flexibility in terms of hours and assignments is critical, and some travel should be expected.

Basic Qualifications:

A minimum of three (3) years journalism experience in a news environment with extensive writing, reporting, and/or producing is required. Candidate must have superior news judgment and a proven ability to find and develop primary sources to identify and follow stories, including breaking and long-term futures reporting. Significant political and/or government reporting experience for digital is highly desirable.

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
