We are seeking a Counsel level Attorney to join the DCP legal team and support DCP’s video game and digital experiences businesses.  This Counsel role is responsible for drafting and negotiating a high volume of license and other commercial agreements, including license agreements for games like Star Wars Outlaws, Avatar: Pandora Rising, and Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed.  Counsel will also work with other senior attorneys to provide legal advice to DCP’s video games and digital experiences businesses and have opportunities to support other businesses within DCP, such as publishing and merchandise licensing. 

We are looking for a thoughtful, driven, and collaborative person who can partner with business teams to help them achieve their objectives while recognizing and mitigating associated risks.  This role will be based in Disney’s Grand Central Creative Campus in Glendale, California.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Structure, draft, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements related to video games and digital experiences, such as game and application licenses, development agreements, distribution agreements, and vendor agreements.
  • Work closely with the games and digital experiences businesses to help achieve their business objectives while mitigating associated legal risks. 
  • Work independently and manage negotiations with minimal supervision while seeking advice from senior attorneys and subject matter experts as appropriate. 

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of legal experience with an emphasis on transactional work, including drafting and negotiating commercial agreements.
  • Excellent attention to detail, written and verbal communication skills, and judgment.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to professionalism and integrity.
  • A collaborative, solutions-oriented approach with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to partner with cast members at all levels of the organization.
  • Must be willing to work independently, take ownership of projects, and proactively develop solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Passion for video games.
  • Some prior exposure to intellectual property law and licensing, and digital and mobile platforms.
  • Law firm experience.

Education:

  • JD degree or equivalent from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to California State Bar in good standing or, willingness and qualification to be Registered In-House Counsel

The hiring range for this position in Glendale, CA is $140,000.00 to $181,000.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
