As the No. 1 station in Philadelphia for almost 45 years, 6abc Action News delivers local news, information, traffic and weather to more than 3 million homes. WPVI serves close to 7 million people 2+ who reside in The Delaware Valley, an area covering Southeastern Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey and Delaware. In the past year Action News has won 2,633 out of 2,662 newscasts in households for a winning percentage of 99.8%. On average, Action News brings together nearly 45% of all adult news viewers, 25-54. WPVI has provided coverage to the Thanksgiving Day Parade for 100 years in 2019!

6ABC- WPVI-TV Philadelphia is looking for a Part-Time Studio Technician within the programming department! The Studio Technician will support the daily production of news and other content across all platforms for WPVI-TV. This position is considered on-site, which means the employee will work from a Company-designated location on an ongoing basis.

What You Will Do

  • Running teleprompter for all live and recorded newscasts, in-studio shoots, sports shows, etc.

  • Cueing talent for all live and recorded newscasts, in-studio shoots, sports shows, etc.

  • Handling studio lights and microphones

  • Assisting with sets and props

  • Providing support in the field for live events, parades, on-location shows, etc.

  • Additional studio duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications & Skills 

  • At least one year of experience working on Television studio newscasts and studio/remote production crews

  • Must be able to work a minimum of 3 days a week

  • Must be willing to work various shifts as needed, including early morning, overnight, weekends, and holidays

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize & handle tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced newsroom environment

  • A valid driver’s license required to drive company-assigned vehicles

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A broad understanding of modern media consumption beyond broadcast to potentially contribute to 6abc’s production and distribution on streaming, web, and other digital platforms.

Required Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent experience

Additional Information:

This position is covered under the Company’s collective bargaining agreement with Local 804 IATSE
