Job Summary:

The Visual Storytelling division of ESPN Creative Studio is a team of visual journalists, photo editors, developers, designers, concept artists and animators whose work reaches across all platforms at ESPN. We are responsible for editorial design and photography on the ESPN website and app, including custom microsites, special projects, branding, illustration, and data visualization. We also concept, design, and direct television graphics for all of ESPN’s studio shows, live events, and ESPN+ original content as well as lead the creative identity for Andscape.

The Designer II role will help contribute to the design language of our programming and engineer solutions to improve build strategies on the E+ platform as well as for live events and studio programming across ESPN’s family of networks.

Responsibilities:

  • Create new project development strategies that improve workflows.

  • Values collaboration, culture and community within the organization.

  • Work with Art Directors & Creative Directors on the brand evolution of our sports properties on both ESPN+ and our linear networks.

  • Prepare and present creative to internal stakeholders.

  • Assist in building the digital infrastructure of our linear and digital design campaigns.

  • Utilizes Adobe software to create designs and animations for ESPN productions.

  • Create visualization graphic designs and typography layouts for multiple ESPN production properties

  • Aptitude to learn new trends and software tools as they emerge

  • Must be flexible, self-starter, detail-oriented, takes direction well, deadline driven, strong collaborator and excellent communicator.

  • Must be highly motivated, work well under pressure, and regularly effectively prioritize multiple assignments.

  • Possesses strong individual and team communication skills with the ability to take direction well.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of professional experience working within a creative studio or media organization.

  • Passionate about design and branding with an aptitude to learn new trends and technology as it emerges.

  • Must be able to provide a portfolio or demo reel of recent work and explanation of project involvement.

  • Strong grasp of typography, composition, hierarchy, and balance.

  • Ability to create, develop and content within established brand guidelines.

  • Strong design and typography skills.

  • Reliable work-from-home setup with strong internet connection.

  • Proficient knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, with specific focus on Photoshop, and Illustrator.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred knowledge of Adobe After Effects

  • Working knowledge of Cinema 4D

  • Preferred knowledge of Microsoft, Smartsheet tracking software tools

    Required Education:

    • High School Diploma or Equivalent

    Preferred Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
