Role Summary:
The Media Delivery team at Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology is responsible for the entire audio and video encoding supply chain from content acquisition to delivery for Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+. Consisting of an agile and responsive team of technicians that perform the daily processes and procedures of our live and on-demand video streaming products to deliver a high-quality experience to our viewers. The department’s responsibilities provide round-the-clock support for these products, ensuring proper functionality across all platforms and front-end playback scenarios. The Media Delivery Operations team provides operational and procedural support for our partner products, including system health monitoring and incident management, live and VOD streaming media orchestration, and cross-team communications.
As a Senior Media Delivery Operator, you will work with a small but dynamic team responsible for monitoring and troubleshooting the VOD ingestion pipeline.
Subject matter and technical expert for supply chain operations
Review audio/visual content against strict deadlines
Coordinate with external partners to fix content to ensure deadlines are met.
Research and normalize metadata
Create tracking tickets for assets that need remediation and follow them to completion.
Provide technical expertise for content issues with A/V, XML, and timed text
Monitor the health of the encoding pipeline and provide technical and operational support.
Identify and triage internal incidents, escalating them to the appropriate technical teams in a timely manner.
Update documentation and train team members on procedures.
Provide ongoing status of the overall health of the ingest pipeline to senior staff.

What You Will Do
Asset Ingest Execution & Content Readiness
Primary accountability for daytoday ingest operations and ontime content availability.
Independently manage the endtoend ingest and review of VOD assets, ensuring content meets technical, metadata, and quality standards prior to release.
Validate audio, video, captions, subtitles, and ancillary metadata against platform and partner delivery specifications.
Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external content partners to resolve ingest issues and mitigate schedule risk.
Maintain accurate tracking and status reporting for assigned content, proactively communicating delays or risks to appropriate teams.
% of Time = 50%
Operational & Technical Support of the Ingest Pipeline
Serve as a technical resource for ingest systems and workflows.
Monitor ingest, QC, and encoding systems to identify operational issues, performance degradation, or workflow failures.
Provide technical analysis and support for issues related to codecs, packaging formats, delivery methods, and workflow behavior.
Review XML/JSON metadata and timedtext assets to ensure downstream compatibility.
Collaborate with engineering and platform teams to validate fixes and support production stability.

Troubleshooting, Incident Response & Escalation
Own investigation and resolution of complex content and pipeline issues.
Troubleshoot and diagnose complex A/V, metadata, packaging, and playback issues across VOD assets.
Create and manage remediation tickets, clearly documenting findings, impact, and resolution steps.
Act as an escalation point during operational incidents, ensuring timely triage, accurate communication, and appropriate handoff to engineering or vendor teams.
Provide clear, concise status updates during incidents and contribute to postincident reviews and corrective actions.

Special Projects & Continuous Improvement
Contribute to operational enhancements beyond daily execution.
Support special projects and operational initiatives as assigned, including workflow changes, partner onboarding, or new format adoption.
Participate in testing, validation, or pilot efforts for new tools, systems, or delivery requirements.
Provide operational input to crossfunctional initiatives impacting the media supply chain.

Training, Documentation & Knowledge Sharing
Strengthen team capability and operational consistency.
Maintain and update operational documentation, runbooks, and troubleshooting guides to reflect current workflows.
Support onboarding and training of new team members, sharing subjectmatter expertise and best practices.
Serve as a knowledgeable resource for peers, helping resolve questions and reinforce standards.
Promote adherence to established procedures, escalation paths, and operational expectations.

Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training:
Basic Qualifications
Background in video or film is preferred
Strong knowledge of video codecs and encoding
Familiarity with video streaming, specifically HLS
Understanding of closed captions and subtitles
Understanding of XML and/or JSON structure
Knowledge of industry standard delivery specifications such as Cable Labs and Movie Labs
Previous Experience supporting a VOD workflow or Digital Asset Management system
Strong organizational skills, must be able to track large scale projects
Strong multi-tasking abilities and attention to detail
Strong communication skills
Ability to work independently with minimal guidance
