We build platform agnostic tools to test video on a variety of devices including smart TVs, Chromecast, browser-based devices, Roku, iOS and Android platforms, PlayStation, Xbox, and set top boxes.


Job Summary:

  • As a Senior Product Development Engineer I on the Application Player Engineering Tooling team, you will help us push the boundaries of what is possible in automated testing on some of the most interesting devices in the marketplace! 

  • We’re looking for a Senior Product Development Engineer I who has experience in JavaScript/TypeScript, who knows how to write scalable code, and is ready to push the boundaries of automated testing on our custom in-house runtime to provide the best testing experiences for our users.

  • You’ll be part of the team that builds our automated player testing system for Disney+, ESPN, and Hulu on a wide range of browser-based devices. This system will be used by player engineers, client engineers and QA for testing the full player development lifecycle. Note that this system is not what most people think of as a traditional “automated testing system”. We are building a cutting edge system that runs on real devices in remote locations.


Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:

  • Builds tools for testing video playback on JS based devices.

  • Leads programming, testing and debugging of applications or fixes to existing applications.

  • Interacts and coordinates deliverables with other technical groups in the organization.

  • Maintaining technical documentation.

  • Rapidly prototype and implement scalable, reliable, and maintainable media applications using TypeScript, JavaScript, and other web development technologies.

Minimum Qualifications:

    • 5+ years of professional JavaScript/Typescript experience.

    • Knowledge of JavaScript, JS frameworks, and server-side templating.

    • Experience with task automation (Grunt, Gulp, Puppeteer).

    • Experience with headless Chrome.

    • Able to collaborate with other engineers to ensure tests are working correctly and sending consistent, accurate results.

    • Motivated self-starter with the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies.

    • Ability to collaborate in a small, productive development team as well as ability to work independently.

    • Work well with minimal technical supervision and supplemental engineering support.

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; can effectively articulate complex ideas and influence others through well-reasoned explanations.

    • Able to write technical documentation.

    • Strong analytical skills and passionate about answering questions..

    • Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective on existing solutions; exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.

    • Fosters positive relationships with partners and stakeholders across the organization.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with our common development tools such as: GitHub, Jenkins, Vite, AWS, Confluence, JIRA. 

    • Experience with AWS (S3, Lamba, API Gateway, Dynamodb).

    • Experience with Vue JS and Typescript.
