Team Description:
Reporting to the Director of Automation, Tooling, and Observability within Global Network Engineering & Operations (GNEO), the Manager of Application Development and Network Systems Reliability Engineering plays a critical role in leading a dynamic team of 10 professionals specializing in automation, software development, observability, and network systems reliability engineering. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, proven leadership abilities, and a passion for driving innovation and operational excellence in a fast-paced IT environment.
Responsibilities of Role:
Observability Pipeline & Tooling
Provide strategic direction and daily leadership to a team of 10 IT professionals focused on automation, software development, and network reliability.
Oversee the design, development, and implementation of automation solutions to enhance operational efficiency and reduce manual tasks.
Manage software development projects, ensuring high-quality deliverables, adherence to timelines, and alignment with business objectives.
Lead network systems reliability engineering initiatives to optimize system uptime, scalability, and security.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and technology integration.
Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure team productivity, project success, and system reliability.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, company policies, and cybersecurity best practices.
Manage resource allocation, budgeting, and vendor relationships as required.
Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in IT automation, software engineering, and network reliability.
Must Haves (Years of Experience, languages, programs, tools, etc.):
Minimum of 8 years of related work experience, with at least 3 years of experience in IT management, with a focus on automation, software development, and network engineering.
Demonstrated experience leading and developing technical teams.
Strong knowledge of automation tools, software development methodologies, agile methodology, and network infrastructure.
Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results under tight deadlines.
Certifications such as PMP, CISSP, or CCNP are a plus.
Proven ability to translate complex technical data into clear, concise reports and presentations for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Strong collaborative skills, with a focus on working across NetOps, DevOps, and Security teams.
Education:
Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience (Master’s preferred).
Nice To Haves:
Experience with cloud networking and observability tools in AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Ansible.
Familiarity with observability tools such as DataDog, Splunk, Logic Monitor, Thousand Eyes, UXI Sensors, etc.
Certifications such as CCNA/CCNP, Certified Prometheus Associate, or a relevant cloud certification.
Experience with distributed tracing concepts and tools (e.g., Jaeger, Zipkin, OpenTelemetry).
