Disney Entertainment & ESPN Product & Technology is a leading provider of live and video-on-demand (VOD) content, committed to delivering the highest quality experience to our customers. Our operation teams ensure quality control (QC) of highly visible and important VOD content prior to being published on our platforms. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Lead, Product Management to join the Media Product team, to evolve our suite of media QC tools and content testing capabilities. This role will be responsible for conducting discovery, refining the product vision, identifying and prioritizing features, and partnering closely with Engineering and Operations leads to validate recommendations and approaches. This role requires a strong understanding of QC processes, media clients, and playback mechanics.
The Lead, Product Management will be responsible for:
- Conduct discovery to identify the needs, pain points, and desires of the QC operators.
- Articulate and visualize the product vision and drive its refinement and evolution, accounting for the overall technical design and architectural direction.
- Partner closely with Engineering & Operations leads to break down the vision into actionable deliverables.
- Author documentation, including user journey maps, basic UX wireframes, functional requirements, and tickets with clear acceptance criteria.
- Provide support for the development of web-based and native QC clients for various platforms (Apple TV, Xbox, PlayStation, Apple Vision Pro).
- Oversee the integration of playback controls, device discovery, remote control, security, and access protocols.
- Ensure compliance with internal content security policies and audit requirements.
- Ensure seamless integration of QC tooling with our internal content management system and permissions frameworks.
- Maintain and prioritize a backlog of features and fixes.
What we need from you to be part of this story:
7+ years of relevant work experience, with 3 or more years of experience in a product management role
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
Proven experience as a Product Manager with familiarity in media, streaming, and or video-based entertainment (is a plus)
Familiarity with working with UX designers and user centered design
Familiarity with playback requirements, including HLS + CMAF, video and audio codec support, DRM compatibility, and subtitle overlay (is a plus)
Experience with web-based and native application development.
Strong understanding of streaming media QC processes and media clients (is a plus)
Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with software engineers, project leads, and other stakeholders.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
