The AI Automation Intern will help design, build, and improve AI-powered automations that reduce manual effort, streamline business processes, and improve the employee experience.
In this role, you will work with product, engineering, and operations partners to identify opportunities for automation, define measurable success criteria, and implement solutions that combine workflow automation with AI capabilities (for example, document classification, summarization, routing, and assisted decision support).
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys improving how work gets done and is excited to apply modern AI techniques to real operational problems.
If selected for this internship, you will report to a leader within Enterprise Technology.
The dates of this internship are May/June 2026 through August/September 2026.
What You Will Do
In this internship, you will contribute to real solutions that help teams operate more efficiently.
On any given day, you might:
Partner with stakeholders to identify high-value manual processes suitable for automation and define requirements and success metrics.
Build and iterate on workflow automations using approved enterprise tools (e.g., low-code platforms and/or scripting), including triggers, logic, approvals, notifications, and integrations.
Incorporate AI capabilities into automations (e.g., extraction, classification, summarization, intelligent routing, or natural-language interfaces) where appropriate.
Implement data handling practices that respect security, privacy, and responsible AI guidelines, including human-in-the-loop review for sensitive decisions.
Create dashboards or lightweight reporting to measure adoption, reliability, and impact (time saved, cycle time reduction, error reduction).
Document solutions clearly (process maps, runbooks, and “how it works” notes) to support handoff and long-term maintainability.
Present outcomes and recommendations to partners at the end of the internship (demo + learnings + next steps).
Required Qualifications & Skills
Experience building automations through coursework, projects, internships, or personal work (low-code or code-based).
Familiarity with at least one scripting or programming language (e.g., Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar).
Comfort working with APIs, JSON, and basic systems integration concepts.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to break down ambiguous problems into clear steps.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort documenting processes and presenting results.
Ability to collaborate in a team environment and manage multiple tasks with attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
Familiarity with workflow automation platforms (e.g., Power Automate or similar) and/or basic RPA concepts.
Exposure to modern AI/ML concepts such as prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), or model evaluation.
Experience working with data tools (SQL fundamentals, data visualization tools such as Power BI/Tableau).
Understanding of monitoring and reliability concepts (logging, alerting, error handling, runbooks).
Interest in user experience and change management (making automation adoptable and easy to use.)
Education
Currently enrolled as a junior or senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research or another STEM related field at an accredited college or university.
Eligibility Requirements & Program Information
Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all the below requirements:
Be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship
Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.
Be at least 18 years of age
Possess unrestricted work authorization

Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work
Fully available from Monday-Friday for the duration of the internship, 40 hours per week
