Job Summary:

Enterprise Metadata Services (EMS) champions enterprise-wide data for our intellectual property (IP) through governance, product, and operations. EMS engages in the complex governance of The Walt Disney Company data with use cases ranging from business intelligence information (financials, franchise critical metrics), digital asset management, digital supply chain, to personalization!

As a Metadata Specialist, you will engage in data standardization activities across multiple systems and domains, collaborating with partners to ensure cross-business and platform functionality.

This role focuses on character, title, and talent data, driving enterprise-wide data proliferation through the creation and application of data governance guidelines. This role exists to ensure the company’s systems to “talk to each other” and to enable our businesses to be strategic with their data. Success is in providing clean, governed data to the enterprise.

This is a 12-month assignment/project.

Responsibilities:

  • Data Governance and Integrity: Lead data reconciliation, mapping, cleansing, and acceptance efforts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with identity management principles.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as a liaison between business partners, providing strong communication and feedback. Advocate for enterprise data standards and troubleshoot issues with stakeholders in downstream systems.
  • Knowledge and Process Management: Document and maintain data structures, processes, and best practices. Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies, ensuring processes are effectively executed in complex environments.
  • Perform Intellectual Property (IP)data governance based on guidelines and business rules for one or more major master or metadata system(s) or data vertical(s). This includes data creation, mapping, reconciliation, and quality assessment.
  • Develop and improve data governance guidelines and process documentation.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience in database management and/or data governance
  • Experience with relational databases and ability to understand data structures
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills
  • Proven organizational and time management skills
  • Attention to detail, problem solving, and accuracy is important
  • Dedication to data integrity
  • Affinity for The Walt Disney Company content and characters

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in library science
  • Good understanding of metadata and taxonomy standards and experience with data standardization


The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $64,000 to $85,800 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
