Senior Manager, Production Technology

Job Summary:

This role is a service first focus on consistent successful deliveries of technology solutions for the Studio and projects. This role is the face of Production Technology for the banner and in direct line with our Studio Executives and Filmmakers from the earliest stages to the release of the project.

Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with Executive teams including Production, Finance, Editorial and VFX to develop, deliver and maintain our productions technical deployment. This incorporates but not limited to budgeting, researching vendor costs, technical conceptualization, production site prep, tech stack architecture and deployment.
  • Create and design technical workflows with Production Technology team for productions and Studio executive teams.
  • Create opportunities to streamline and deliver scalable efficient technical results to projects with a wide variety of budgets and requirements.
  • Seek out information from a variety of contacts and begin building process early creating more time for planning, practice and execution of the workflow.
  • Lead the effort to complete Production solutions as well as begin early planning for Post Production technology migration workflow and success.
  • Research and seek out new technology available in the market. Expose and evangelize new technical processes to each project.
  • Advise Productions of the Studio's security best practices and implementation. This includes but is not limited to information, content, network and physical security.
  • Develop, design and deploy each production’s network infrastructure by leveraging the Studio Technology Partners including PMO, TSaSE, SPN, PPE, PTO, CIS, Studio Operations and others.
  • Work directly with Production Teams HOD’s including Producers, Management and Camera. Work directly with post-production including Editors, Assistants, VFX teams and vendors delivering best technical practices for success.
  • Engage and work directly with Image/Color Science teams to extend their knowledge and skillset to assist our Studio Executives and Production stakeholders, especially with shot review, calibration and remote collaboration solutions.
  • Report and communicate consistently with VP of Production Technology of success and risk situations for each project.

Qualifications:

  • Strong technical knowledge and experience in leading Production and Post-Production workflows. Experience with networking, storage and processing workflows.
  • Enthusiasm to prepare early and execute various plans for successful solutions. Recognize, appreciate and be thoughtful with projects that pivot and change course rapidly.
  • Pursue new industry ideas, process and technology for project application.
  • Deep comprehension of various software and apps for multiple team collaboration.
  • Efficient technical communication with non-technical Studio Executives and Filmmakers from various crafts.

Education: BA or BS in Film Production, Communication or other related technology discipline.

Experience: 10+ years managing in the Production, Post Production or VFX arenas.


The hiring range for this position in Los Angeles, CA is $167,700.00-$224,900.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
