The Product Integrity department manages the safety and compliance of products being sold or distributed with Disney brands, characters, and other intellectual property. Our corporate Product Integrity group is staffed with experienced engineers and safety professionals around the world to verify product compliance.
The Senior Engineer/Analyst, Product Integrity will support department operations through a combination of specified functions – acting as a technical resource and business support for emerging markets and business channels operating across various global regions, conducting research and aiding in the development of program guidelines for new and existing retail channels, supporting the maintenance and socialization of global Product Integrity guides and tools, and leading or participating in assigned projects which enhance Product Integrity’s effectiveness and deliver on key initiatives.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
Business Support and Subject Matter Expertise
- Act as a technical resource and liaison to internal and external stakeholders regarding statutory, regulatory, and Disney product requirements for a wide range of merchandise distributed across multiple business channels in APAC, Middle East, LATAM, and North America regions.
- Deliver education and guidance to internal stakeholders and external groups through presentations or team meetings as needed, focusing on impactful product safety regulations, emerging regulatory trends, and global marketplace standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional colleagues to develop and maintain the department’s process documentation and technical/global databases, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with organizational requirements.
- Maintain effective work relationships by partnering with assigned business partners worldwide, to ensure safe and compliant products are delivered within cost and on time.
Research and Development
- Participate in assigned trade association working groups, monitor emerging regulations and trends and assist with tracking and research of necessary updates to inform decisions and ensure readiness.
- Work with third party testing labs and internal teams to support updating Product Guidelines for multiple regions and product types.
- Communicate with testing laboratories and suppliers, as needed, to ensure clarity of global test requirements.
- Under manager direction, lead the creation and maintenance of Product Integrity guidance documents and work instructions; ensuring regional compliance materials and Disney’s global Packaging guides remain current with global regulatory changes and international retailer requirements.
Project Focus
- Act as project lead or key contributor for departmental projects and initiatives of varying scope.
- Support technology projects as needed.
Hiring Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, or related field
- Successful candidates will have 5 or more years of consumer product compliance experience.
- Must have recent experience working in a consumer product company or major 3rd party testing laboratory.
- Ideal candidates will have experience with a variety of consumer product categories distributed into multiple global regions and can speak to the requirements in each country/region, including global packaging and labeling requirements.
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of Product Integrity principles, including regulatory compliance, safety standards, and quality assurance practices across global markets.
- Working knowledge of international consumer product standards, regulations, and certification requirements (e.g., CPSIA, Prop 65, EN 71, AS/NZS 8124, IEC 62115, KC, GCTS).
- Critical thinking skills and the ability to showcase those skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; presentation and group dynamics skills.
- Demonstrates strong analytical skills to identify root causes and resolve issues effectively, ensuring timely and practical solutions that support product integrity and operational goals.
- Actively developing project management skills, including planning, prioritization, and cross-functional coordination to drive successful execution of initiatives.
- Experience with international product regulatory bodies and standardization organizations (e.g., Korea- KATS, Singapore-SFA, Middle East-GSO, Australia- ACCC).
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and how various product types are made.
- Lean Six Sigma Yellow or Green Belt
The hiring range for this position in California is $95,500.00 to $128,000.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
