Team Description:

Global Security protects the people, properties, assets, information, and brand of The Walt Disney Company and its affiliated businesses. The Global Security Design & Engineering (GSDE) team delivers enterprise-wide security technology solutions that reduce complexity, enhance interoperability, and enable data-driven decision-making. GSDE centralizes the architecture, deployment, and lifecycle management of security platforms supporting multiple business segments across six international geographies.

What You’ll Do:

The Sr. Manager, Systems Engineering – Global Security Design & Engineering is a senior, hands-on technical leader responsible for defining, designing, and governing the architecture of Global Security’s core technology platforms. This role operates at the intersection of physical security systems, enterprise applications, and long-term platform strategy.

As the primary solution architect, this role ensures that systems such as access control, video management, and records management remain scalable, interoperable, and aligned to enterprise standards.

The Sr. Manager, Systems Engineering GSD&E drives proactive lifecycle planning, reduces reliance on aging technologies, and enables strategic reinvestment into modern, high-performing platforms. This role serves as the single accountable owner for architectural decisions, bridging Global Security, Enterprise Technology, and business stakeholders to ensure consistency, efficiency, and innovation across the security technology ecosystem.


Responsibilities:

Enterprise Architecture & Platform Strategy:

  • Serve as the lead architect for Global Security technology platforms, including access control (e.g., Lenel OnGuard), video management (e.g., Genetec Security Center), and records management systems.
  • Define and maintain enterprise architecture standards, ensuring consistency, scalability, and interoperability across regions and business segments.
  • Develop long-term platform strategies, including system lifecycle planning, modernization roadmaps, and decommissioning of legacy technologies.
  • Evaluate emerging security technologies and define adoption strategies aligned to business needs and threat landscape evolution.

Solution Design & Technical Leadership:

  • Design end-to-end system solutions that meet functional, operational, and security requirements across diverse environments.
  • Partner with Enterprise Technology engineers to align system designs with broader enterprise architecture and infrastructure standards.
  • Maintain physical and logical system architecture documentation to ensure alignment with production environments.

Standards, Governance & Optimization:

  • Establish and enforce minimum system standards, design principles, and governance frameworks across all Global Security platforms.
  • Develop user guides and technical standards to ensure consistent system usage and reduce operational variability.
  • Identify and drive system optimization opportunities to improve performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.

Cross-Functional Partnership & Stakeholder Alignment:

  • Act as the primary liaison between Global Security, GSDE, Enterprise Technology, and business unit stakeholders.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions and architectural designs.
  • Influence cross-functional teams and senior leadership on technology strategy, platform decisions, and investment priorities.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement:

  • Conduct research and evaluation of off-the-shelf and emerging technologies to enhance Global Security capabilities.
  • Participate in technical forums, training, and certifications to stay current on industry trends and innovations.
  • Ensure Global Security remains technologically agile and prepared for evolving risks and operational demands.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in security systems architecture, enterprise technology, or related technical field.
  • Deep expertise in physical security platforms (e.g., access control, video management systems, records management).
  • Proven experience designing and managing complex, multi-platform, enterprise-scale systems across multiple geographies.
  • Strong understanding of system integration, infrastructure, and enterprise architecture principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Experience partnering with engineering teams and influencing technical decisions across organizations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in large, complex, matrixed organizations (e.g., media, entertainment, retail, or global enterprises).
  • Familiarity with enterprise IT systems, cloud environments, and security data platforms.
  • Knowledge of system lifecycle management, technical debt reduction, and modernization strategies.
  • Experience with security system integrations and enterprise tools (e.g., identity systems, monitoring platforms).
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CPP, PSP, CISSP, TOGAF, or equivalent).

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience

The hiring range for this position in Glendale, CA is $155,700 - $208,700 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
