Join the Auditing and Investigations Center of Excellence as a Senior Quality Controls Engineer, where you'll audit and improve control systems for rides, transportation, and entertainment to advance guest experience and safety. You’ll work with a team to assess electrical and electronic systems, contribute to operational enhancements, and educate global teams. Ideal candidates have expertise in electrical design and software development for industrial control or entertainment systems, and excel both independently and on project teams, providing tactical leadership and innovative solutions for safety improvements.

You will report to Sr Manager – Worldwide Safety Assurance Global Auditing.

This is a Project Hire/Internal Assignment with no guarantee of permanent placement with an estimated end date of 07/01/2028.

What you will do:

  • Assist Worldwide Safety Assurance Managers and Directors in executing the annual audit plan by supporting audit planning (risk and control matrices, data analytics, drafting communications, and preparing document requests), performing fieldwork (inquiry, analytics, observation, and documentation), and formulating concise audit findings and reports.

  • Identify and communicate the impact of audit findings on safety, operations, and brand, while finding opportunities for operational improvements to address safety gaps and future enhancements.

  • Develop innovative methods to detect emerging risks and gaps, investigate industry incidents, and collaborate with partners across all business units to strengthen relationships and auditing effectiveness.

  • Support Managers and Directors in department initiatives including WSA Global Auditing, annual planning, audit quality review, and budget management, as well as assisting partners in developing and maintaining internal audit programs.

  • Partner with Walt Disney Imagineering, project teams, and Standards teams worldwide to leverage audit findings for improved ride design and to update or create Guiding Principles, Standards, and Business Practices.

  • Leverage technology and analytics to enhance auditing processes, identify new risks, streamline operations, and increase collaboration, while continuously monitoring safety trends for future improvements.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • 7+ years of experience in industrial controls or the entertainment ride and show industry, including at least 5 years in the Theme Park sector.

  • Extensive knowledge of Disney and industry safety standards, regulations, and practices, with hands-on experience in safety-related control systems, software development planning, and commissioning.

  • Proficient in PLC programming, C/C++, and servo control system programming and tuning; skilled in software testing, version control, and collaboration tools.

  • Strong understanding of industrial network protocols such as AS-I, INTERBUS, ControlNet, Profinet, CIP, and Ethernet IP.

  • Experienced in auditing, Performance Alignment Model, and effective communication across all levels, including executive management.

  • Demonstrated leadership, collaborative improvement, independent judgment, and innovative thinking within high-performing teams.

  • Available for worldwide travel to lead audit teams and support diverse missions up to 4 times a year.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiar with IEC – 61131 using Ladder Diagram and Structured Text, and strong knowledge of industrial control system hardware, system architecture, as well as I/O and Supervisory Network systems.

  • Experience in safety control system design utilizing safety PLCs and devices, developing risk assessments and safety designs with IEC/ISO functional safety standards, and leadership in establishing, rolling out, and monitoring safety-critical processes and requirements.

  • Knowledgeable in pneumatic and hydraulic servo control systems, and skilled in auditing and investigating motion control VFD and servo system software and hardware.

  • Proficient in auditing software architecture and coding for Embedded Systems, including Rockwell and Siemens PLCs, as well as understanding C/C++ code to PLC software, and auditing industrial Graphical User Interfaces.

  • Extensive audit and investigations experience across multiple environments and businesses, including auditing all types of engineering documents (hardware, software design, safety analysis documents for safety-critical applications), and auditing control system acceptance test plans and results.

  • Disney experience with established relationships at Disney sites worldwide, and an understanding of different cultures and methods among Disney lines of business such as Operations, Entertainment, and Walt Disney Imagineering.

  • Training, experience, or certification in auditing processes.

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent

  • Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent- Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or technical field- Preferred

The hiring range for this position in Lake Buena Vista, FL is $122,800 - $150,000 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
