Job Summary:

The Mission of Telecom Business Planning is to provide the highest quality of voice and data services at the most economical cost, and provide vendor and contract lifecycle management to meet the telecommunications needs of the Walt Disney Company through collaborating with our business unit telecommunications managers and leveraging our vendor Master Service Agreements.

The Key Functions of the Telecom Business Planning department are as follows:

  • Telecommunications Contract Management

  • Telecommunications Vendor Management

  • Telecommunications Expense Management (TEMS)

  • Project Assignments and Deliverable-Based Work, specifically SD WAN

The Sr. Telecom Business Specialist will manage Disney’s global telecommunications environment (wireline and wireless) by organizing, analyzing and determining Business Unit requirements, translating those requirements into a contracted service with our Telecommunications Service Providers.

The Sr. Telecom Business Specialist develops sustainable operational processes to manage the provisioning, billing and cost recovery of those services.  The Sr. Telecom Business Specialist will be required to maintain and manage the telecommunications contract management lifecycles (Negotiate, Approve, Execute, Capture, Track and Analyze), and provide technical and analytical support for projects requested by the Business Units and Enterprise Technology management.  The Sr. Telecom Business Specialist will also be responsible for Telecommunications Vendor Management and attend the Service Action Plan meetings.  This includes working with the vendors to implement or improve business processes, expedite or escalate service orders and/or issues, and participate in the quarterly performance review meetings to provide feedback and suggestions for service improvement with each vendor.

The Sr. Telecom Business Specialist will also lead and create telecommunications strategic, tactical and operational plans, lead and perform complex research and data gathering analysis, develop and manage project plans and perform financial analysis.  Additionally, the Sr. Telecom Business Specialist will provide technical and analytical support for medium to large projects including SD WAN.

The Sr. Telecom Business Specialist will also interface with the Cap Gemini Telecom Expense Management (TEM) department to manage the following activities:

  • Voice and Data Circuit Provisioning (Moves, Adds, Changes, Disconnects)

  • Monthly Circuit Invoice Payment Processing via Tangoe Commcare Management Platform (CMP)

  • Telecom Billing/Invoice audit and dispute resolution

  • Carrier Aging Report (AR) invoice/payment research and reconciliation

  • Business Unit circuit inventory and monthly charge inquiries and support

EXPERIENCE/ SKILLS/ TRAINING:

  • Strong contract negotiation and contract management skills.

  • Previous exposure to financial accounting and financial systems

  • Demonstrated knowledge of telecommunications technology and structure (Traditional Voice, VoIP, Cellular, MPLS, Ethernet, Private Line, Internet Access, Fiber Optic, Wavelength, DWDM, etc.).

  • Extremely good oral and written communication skills

  • Excellent project management and organizational skills

  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and strong business and financial acumen

  • Demonstrated ability to work with management and engineering personnel at all levels

  • Ability to work independently and to use common sense and sound technical judgment to complete assignments in a timely manner

  • Ability to prioritize work assignments and focus on most critical projects

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision

  • Demonstrated spirit of cooperation and willingness to get the job done; ability to instill these values in others

Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, management science, or communications engineering with 5 years progressive voice or data communications experience with CLEC or ILEC carriers including Local and Long Distance (LD) billing & provisioning experience.

Preferred Education

  • MBA with experience in accounting, financial analysis and planning capacity, or related disciplines


The hiring range for this position in Florida is $$111,900 to $$150,000 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
