The Telecom Ops Manager – Video Technology will oversee the methodologies, reporting, standards, documentation, infrastructure, and hardware responsibilities for Video Technology systems, including inter-building and campus-wide connectivity, fiber and copper cable, backbone coax, multi-strand fiber optic cable, GPON network hardware including OLT and ONT equipment, DirecTV headend equipment, IP video platforms, camera systems, and associated connectivity hardware. The successful candidate will also instruct, coach, and develop others to achieve quality, productivity, operational reliability, and customer satisfaction goals.

This position reports to the Manager, Telecom Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and assist in the design, installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of all datacom assets

  • Assist in job walks and in determining needs for new installations and redesigns

  • Ensure that the fabrication, repair, and needed hardware/equipment is on site as needed for all critical operations

  • Collaborate with all staff members and stakeholders in the development and use of proper procedures for technical assets

  • Obtain and maintain licenses, operator permits, or certifications as required

  • Monitor and maintain a reasonable inventory of replacement hardware, general use materials, and tools are onsite

  • Acquire proper inventory parts and equipment needed for repair or replacement of defective components

  • Manage Union video cast members holding them accountable for tickets and SLA’s to be met

  • Process, track and efficiently execute work orders and support tickets

  • Assist in vendor scheduling, installation, and subcontracting activities on large and complex facility system infrastructure

  • Maintain documentation of job status, job change revisions, material flow and other project and maintenance records

  • Develop novel ways to streamline processes and increase the reliability of datacom assets

  • Develop conceptual designs and specifications based on WDW requirements

  • Coordinate with other contractors and project teams as needed

  • Create metrics and procedure documents

  • Manage the integrity of the documentation of all installations including assets, locations, connectivity, and maintenance of the patch record databases   

  • Provide purchase order creation and financial controls for video needs ensuring adherence to budget and timelines

  • Own the roadmap, standards, lifecycle planning, and architecture for enterprise Video Technology platforms, including high-density, multi-site VMS and camera environments.

  • Define standards for PTZ, panoramic, multi-sensor, LPR, edge-compute, and other advanced camera platforms.

  • Support Genetec, AXIS, LPR, 2N, and related enterprise video surveillance, access, and intercom technologies.

  • Architect SMF backbone, redundant fiber routing, and ring topology designs across large campus and remote facility environments.

  • Support RFoF, HFC, Edge-QAM, SDI-to-IP, multicast video, IGMP/PIM, GPON, OLT, ONT, and IPTV distribution environments.

  • Support DirecTV Comm300, headend systems, commercial encryption, scrambling, DRM, and Pro:Idiom technologies.

  • Support secure edge video infrastructure, including encrypted streams, VLAN isolation, protected traffic flows, and video retention practices.

  • Modernize legacy systems to improve reliability, supportability, workflow efficiency, and operational risk reduction

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of technology experience.

  • Minimum 2 years leadership or lead experience

  • High-level knowledge of computers, video, cable plant design, structured cabling, fiber, twisted pair copper, and coaxial copper

  • Experience with Visio or other CAD software to develop system documentation

  • Total comprehension of modern systems and network platform and what is necessary for physical layer inter-connectivity

  • 3+ years of experience working with video systems, such as IP cameras and SDI distribution system.

  • 3+ years of experience working with computer systems. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Analyze Data using ServiceNow and audit reports for strategic decision making.  

  • Ability to translate client requirements into technical specifications

  • Basic knowledge of TCP/IP networking protocols

  • Documented experience with project and small team leadership

  • Experience directing IT technicians

  • Experience in RF communication cabling

  • Experience in IP and HD-SDI Video cabling infrastructure

  • Sound knowledge of computer skills, MS Words, Excel, and Power point.

  • Ability to perform strategy planning

  • Experience managing support vendors and contractors

  • Vendor and/or applicable industry certifications

  • General comprehension of the various components and sub-components of video infrastructure

  • Manage a team of Union cast members.

  • Knowledge of Disney administrative applications: MyTime, CastMobile, Regulatory training.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year college or equivalent work experience


The hiring range for this position in Orlando, FL is $101,800 to $136,500 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
