Product Manager, Media

 

Join the Product & Strategy team as a Product Manager, where you'll play a crucial role in designing and rolling out news production workflows related to news media contribution and distribution. You will be responsible for conducting end-user research and solving complex problems across various production, operations, and editorial stakeholder groups, with a special focus on live media acquisition, ingest, and content organization. This role is responsible for gathering requirements, collaborating, designing and verifying solutions, providing and managing training, and managing the rollout of new solutions. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

- Collaborate with operations and production teams to identify and address specific needs for ABC News for live and tape content acquisition workflows and processes.

- Engage with vendors such as TVU, LiveU, IBM, Telestream, Evertz IRM and others to develop solutions, create integrations and optimize workflows.

- Manage the entire lifecycle of projects, from initial concept to deployment and post-launch support.

- Work closely with software development, media operations, product development, and editorial groups to develop and refine media workflow solutions.

- Play a key role in the change management process, ensuring smooth transitions and user adoption of new technologies and workflows.

- Design and implement training programs for staff on new media systems and workflows.

- Maintain a deep understanding of the latest trends and technologies related to live production workflows.

 

Required Qualifications:

- Strong experience in television, streaming, or digital news production, with a specific focus on live news acquisition, transmission and streaming.

- Proven ability to work effectively with operations, production, and technology teams in a media environment.

- Knowledge of various live video systems and vendors, and the ability to stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in the field.

- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education in a relevant field.

- 5-7 years of experience in product management, particularly with media or production related projects

 

Preferred Qualifications:

- Background in software development or UX design, particularly in solutions related to news and content production


The hiring range for this position in NY is 142,600.00-$191,100.00. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
