    Job Summary:

    We’re looking for an individual to join the Data Science, Strategy, and Instrumentation Organization as a Sr. Data Science Engineer. The individual that fills this role will be responsible for driving data science and engineering development within a range of Advertising focus areas including identity, interoperability, measurement and Clean Rooms. They will be considered a technical expert within the team and have a major say in influencing development standards and data architecture. The ideal candidate naturally demonstrates initiative and a desire to design and optimize engineering processes.

    Supporting the Disney Advertising organization the Data Strategy team are subject matter experts in each of the following areas:

    • Identity
    • Measurement
    • Addressability
    • Programmatic
    • Data-forward business development

    Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:

    Develop Pipelines + Implement Code (75%)

    • Develop code in SQL, Python or other applicable languages to assist in the build of client-facing analytical and engineering based initiatives.
    • Utilize SQL in cloud-based environments (Google Cloud, Snowflake and/or AWS) to process terabytes of unstructured data to cleanse and prepare at scale in support of team roadmap initiatives.
    • Assist in designing the orchestration of processes (via Airflow or native cloud tools) that egress terabytes of unstructured data to storage repositories and API endpoints for data collaboration initiatives.
    • Develop pipelines in Airflow using Python and SQL; troubleshoot processes when necessary and optimize code.

    Provide Thought Leadership & Mentorship (25%)

    • Provide mentorship to junior team members by assisting with the scoping and architecture of projects from a technical lens.
    • Provide expertise in development best-practices within SQL, Python, Airflow and cloud environments such as Google Cloud, Snowflake and AWS.

    Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training:

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Mathematics, Statistics or related field and minimum of 5 years of experience (or Masters degree and minimum of 3 year of experience) working in a data engineering role.
    • Proficiency using SQL within Cloud environments, preferably Google Cloud and Snowflake.
    • Proficiency developing code, pipelines and orchestration processes in Airflow using Python.
    • Proficiency in bash and other command-line programming tools such as Google Cloud/AWS SDKs and Snowflake SnowSQL.
    • Experience creating technical documentation and writing/creating visuals to scope requirements for developers to implement.
    • Experience working in an agile environment helping lead development of requirements, management of workflows and priorities, and generation of feedback to a data team.
    • Innovative thinker capable of operating both in a strategic capacity (big-picture perspective, asks "why") and a hands-on/execution capacity (detail-oriented, conscientious).
    • Great organization, communication, and teamwork skills.
    • Preference given to experience in digital advertising and advertiser-facing data products such as Data Clean Rooms.

    The hiring range for this position in $136,100 - $182,400 per year .The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
