The Global Information Security (GIS) group provides services to protect the value and use of Disney’s information through collaboration, standardization, enforcement, and education across The Walt Disney Company.  The main focus areas of this group are: 

  • Reduce the risk of both accidental and malicious data disclosure

  • Identify, monitor, engage with complete inventory of information 

  • Establish appropriate policies and procedures to be followed 

  • Educate user community to minimize risk 

Team Description: 

Using a variety of tools and platforms, the GIS Security Architecture & Engineering team takes on use cases from Information Security Stakeholders at The Walt Disney Company, crafting solutions that increase business agility, reduce costs, optimize resources, and manage the complexity associated with Information Security tools and processes. This function supports tracking the value we return to TWDC and commits to returning time and money savings back to the organization each year. 

What You’ll Do: 

We need a Lead Security Engineer – Software Engineer to join our Team!

This role is on-site at least 4 days per week, for incredible collaboration and teamwork!

Work within the Security Development and Design team that is responsible for protecting the network and company assets from any security threats or attacks through the development of security automation capabilities.  This team designs, develops and implements security automation tools and sites to help our customers focus on areas of risk. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy reliable, maintainable software in Python 

  • Build and integrate AI/ML solutions (e.g., LLMs, NLP, computer vision, recommendation systems) 

  • Collaborate with product, data science, and engineering to define and deliver features 

  • Lead technical design and architecture decisions; document and socialize them 

  • Mentor engineers through code review, pair programming, and technical guidance 

  • Identify and drive improvements in performance, reliability, and scalability 

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum of 7 years of related experience

  • Strong experience designing, developing, testing and deploying reliable, maintainable and secure software in Python

  • Experience in scripting languages: Python, Bash, and PowerShell

  • Knowledge of Javascript/Typescript, React framework 

  • Experience with OpenSearch, PostgreSQL, and other data storage platforms

  • Ability to learn and continue to maintain cutting edge skills and knowledge on a variety of technical areas (Unix/Linux, Application Security, Vulnerability Management, etc.)

  • Solve complex problems and develop creative alternatives, as well as continuous process improvement skills

  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

  • Applied skills in Cloud Platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) 

  • Proficient in Typescript/Javascript - Front end development 

  • Proficient in Python/yaml/json - Backend development 

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience

The hiring range for this position in Orlando, FL is $135,200 - $181,200 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
