Team Description:

The Manager, Software Engineering leads the front-end and back-end ServiceNow solution engineering team within HR Products, responsible for the platforms that power Employee Services for over 200,000 Walt Disney Company employees. You will own engineering delivery, platform support, and technical execution for ServiceNow HRSD and Employee Center Pro.

You will manage a team of 5-7 Solution and Software Engineers, plus a team of offshore and nearshore managed service resources providing platform support. You report directly to the Senior Manager, Software Engineering. The ideal candidate is a hands-on ServiceNow development leader with deep JavaScript and AngularJS expertise, a track record of building scalable solutions, and a genuine commitment to growing engineering talent.

What You Will Do:

Team Leadership and Talent Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 5-7 Solution and Software Engineers.

  • Provide coaching, career pathing, and growth plans for each team member.

  • Manage a team of offshore and nearshore managed service resources.

  • Act as a technical coach on engineering best practices, standards, and ServiceNow platform excellence.

  • Identify and grow future engineering leaders within the team.

Platform Development and Support

  • Drive front-end architecture, design, and implementation across ServiceNow HRSD and Employee Center Pro.

  • Oversee Tier 2 engineering support for production ServiceNow solutions, ensuring high availability and fast incident resolution.

  • Manage offshore and nearshore managed service teams providing day-to-day platform support, ensuring quality and accountability.

  • Collaborate with operations teams to maintain data quality, compliance, and platform integrity.

Cross-Functional Collaboration and Delivery

  • Partner with Product Managers, Designers, and Platform and Solution Architects to define and prioritize user-centric enhancements that provide measurable value

  • Translate complex business requirements into scalable, maintainable software solutions.

  • Lead code reviews, testing, and deployment of enterprise-grade features.

  • Align roadmaps and resolve delivery issues across teams and domains.

Strategy and Engineering Standards

  • In partnership with the Sr. Manager, set the vision for front-end ServiceNow engineering strategy, balancing platform modernization with stability.

  • Champion agile delivery practices (Scrum, Kanban) to drive consistent, value-focused output.

  • Serve as the escalation point for complex technical issues and architectural decisions.

  • Communicate technical progress, risks, and delivery status clearly to Technology Leadership, Product and business stakeholders.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • 7+ years of hands-on ServiceNow development experience with deep platform knowledge.

  • 2+ years leading engineering teams and delivering complex front-end ServiceNow implementations.

  • 2+ years experience managing or coordinating offshore and nearshore managed service teams.

  • Proven proficiency in ServiceNow HR Service Delivery (HRSD) and Employee Center Pro in a production environment.

  • Advanced proficiency in JavaScript, AngularJS, HTML5, CSS, and REST APIs.

  • Expertise in ServiceNow frameworks including Workspaces, UI Builder, and Next Experience.

  • Experience building and optimizing API integrations (REST/SOAP) with external systems such as SAP and Workday.

  • Strong track record of delivering complex initiatives across cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to communicate technical concepts and risks clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD).

  • ServiceNow Certified HR Implementation Specialist.

  • Experience with Moveworks or comparable Agentic AI Assistant platforms in an enterprise environment.

  • Agile certification (CSM, SAFe, or equivalent).

  • ITIL v3 or later certification or demonstrated application of ITSM best practices.

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.

  • ServiceNow HRSD and Employee Center Pro operate with high availability and a clear, prioritized engineering roadmap.

  • Offshore and nearshore managed service teams operate within defined SLAs with clear accountability, and consistent delivery quality.

  • Engineers on the team have documented growth plans and career development paths.

  • Product and People and Culture stakeholders view engineering as a reliable, innovative and technically credible delivery partner.

  • At least one platform initiative launched that measurably improves the employee experience.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience

The hiring range for this position in Seattle, WA is $179,700 - $241,000 per year and in Burbank, CA is $171,600 - $230,100 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
