We are responsible for the end-to-end digital and physical Guest experience for all technology & digital-led initiatives across the Attractions & Entertainment, Food & Beverage, Resorts & Transportation and Merchandise lines of business as well as other initiatives including MyDisneyExperience and Hey, Disney!

We are looking for a Principal Software Architect to own the design vision of Guest data products and solutions. You will lead all aspects of assigned data initiatives working with multiple engineering studios. You will sit in the Data Products & Platform team within the Technology & Digital organization for Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products.

You will:

  • Ensure architecture meets service-level agreements (SLA), resiliency, security, and privacy requirements

  • Lead with clear communication, documentation, and diagrams that define, guide, and influence engineering teams

  • Design high-performance data streaming architectures with near realtime complex event processing (CEP)

  • Maintain productive engagement with partners to ensure solutions are right-sized and strategically aligned to the overall data strategy and architecture principles

You have:

  • 10+ years of experience with the delivery of data solutions

  • Proven experience designing data platforms

  • Foundation in Python development

  • Deep technical expertise in AWS (Kinesis, Lambda, DynamoDB, IAM, among other tools)

  • Additionally, deep technical expertise in Snowflake, Flink/Beam and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/CDK)

  • Strong problem solving and influencing skills with the ability to critically think through and elegantly address logic problems with code - especially in complex event processing (CEP)

  • Ability to navigate in the gray easily and work independently to guide the design and implementation of strategies and roadmaps

  • Excellent partnership skills with the ability to interface and influence across the organization, including the executive level

  • Proven grasp and believer of agile development approaches, including DevOps concepts

  • Experience working in the hospitality, travel, or entertainment industry is helpful

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience

Preferred Education:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience

The hiring range for this position in Washington is $189,256.00 to $253,880.00 per year and in California is $180,646.00 to $242,330.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
