The Senior Business Product Manager for Data Products in the Commerce & Finance domain is responsible for driving the strategy, definition, and delivery of data products that power financial insights and commercial operations across the enterprise. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with strategic oversight to unlock the value of data, ensuring measurable business outcomes and alignment with enterprise goals. The Senior Business Product Manager acts as a subject matter expert, managing relationships across the data value chain—from source data producers to business users—while ensuring data products are accurate, compliant, and optimized for user adoption and capitalizable value.
Strategic Vision & Product Identification
- Define and communicate the strategic roadmap for Commerce & Finance data domains, ensuring alignment with business objectives and scalable value delivery.
- Identify, evaluate, and prioritize capitalizable data products and solutions that drive measurable business impact and can be leveraged across the organization.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for Commerce & Finance data domains, understanding data sources, structures, usage patterns, and their business impact.
- Proactively manage initiatives to ensure outcomes are achievable, realistic, and aligned with organizational priorities and data principles.
Data Requirements Definition & Product Lifecycle Management
- Lead the definition and documentation of detailed data requirements for new and existing data products, collaborating with stakeholders to capture business needs and technical specifications.
- Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of Commerce & Finance data products, including requirements gathering, data discovery, modeling, and documentation.
- Conduct hands-on technical activities such as data profiling, quality assessments, and the development of data rules (contracts, pseudo code).
- Establish and maintain ongoing data quality measurement processes to proactively identify, monitor, and resolve issues.
- Manage product-related issues, including root cause analysis and resolution, ensuring alignment with data governance and business priorities.
- Create and maintain comprehensive product documentation, including detailed data models and product-specific guidelines.
Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with business stakeholders in Commerce, Finance, and related domains to understand evolving needs and ensure data products drive measurable value.
- Drive user adoption by tracking engagement metrics, gathering feedback, and iterating on solutions for enhanced satisfaction and business impact.
- Foster trust and alignment with stakeholders, ensuring clear communication around expectations, timelines, and product outcomes.
- Partner with engineering, architecture, and analytics teams to deliver scalable, high-quality data solutions.
Technical & Operational Excellence
- Champion data governance, compliance, and scalability across all Commerce & Finance data solutions.
- Leverage industry best practices and cutting-edge data technologies to ensure robust, reliable, and compliant data products.
- Promote operational excellence and continuous improvement in data usability, performance, and quality.
- Advocate for agile methodologies and iterative delivery practices in data product development.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience managing the end-to-end lifecycle of data products, including requirements gathering, data discovery, and documentation, with a focus on Commerce & Finance domains.
- Demonstrated expertise in defining data requirements and identifying capitalizable products within financial and commercial data environments.
- Expertise in data management practices, medallion architecture (bronze, silver, gold layers), and dimensional modeling (e.g., Kimball).
- Deep understanding of data ingestion, transformation, storage processes, and ETL pipeline design and implementation.
- Proficiency in data governance standards, regulatory compliance, and industry best practices.
- Experience with data tools, coding languages (e.g., SQL, Python), data warehouses, analytics platforms, and cloud-based data solutions (e.g., AWS, Snowflake, dbt).
- Proven ability to collaborate with data engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to design and implement scalable data solutions.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to align business and technical teams on product vision and execution.
- Demonstrated ability to drive user adoption, measure engagement, and iterate for continuous improvement.
- Experience in agile methodologies and iterative delivery practices.
- Experience in the hospitality, travel, or entertainment industry is a plus.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Finance, or a related field, and/or equivalent work experience.
- Master’s degree preferred.
#DISNEYTECH
The hiring range for this position in Washington is $145,500 to $195,000 per year and in California is $138,900 to $186,200 per year based on a 40 hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
