Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) is looking for a Safety Manager who will work under the supervision of the Marine Superintendent and be responsible for overseeing safety systems and quality control reporting. The Safety Manager will interact with shipyard, classifications societies, authorities and partners.
This position will be on-site in Papenburg, Germany.
Responsibilities:
Maintains Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) Safety and Quality Standards.
Assist the Marine Superintendent to observe the budget
Responsible for coordinating and monitoring the construction/installation progress for the various safety disciplines and systems which are part of the USCG ICOC Examinations.
Participate in assigned official shipyard inspections, including but not limited to: Structural Fire Protection, Watertight Integrity, Means of Escape, Fixed firefighting, Fire Detection and Alarm system, Lifesaving appliances, safety, security, environmental and medical equipment.
Coordinates between the shipyard, Classification Society and Disney Cruise Line Operations for all production developments in the areas within their scope
Monitor the production schedule/progress and generate production overview report for all safety system to share with the Disney Senior Leadership project management.
Safety System’s production overview report document should include but not limited to installation progress, test and trials completion and progress, inspection overview and outstanding open remarks.
Cooperate and partner with the Disney Cruise Line Operations, supplier and consultants in all Safety related discussions.
Coordination with shipyard, Classification Society, US Coast Guard, Flag State to ensure compliance of international rules and regulations
Assist with the Safety aspects of the project during the official shipyard meetings.
Assist the New Building Project Management overseeing test & trials process regarding the safety systems and ensures that the required Site Team members as well as suitably qualified professionals attends on behalf of the owner.
Utilize the shipyard’s Client Request Item (CRI) process to record and track ship building deficiencies.
Cooperate with planning of additional support from the vendors if needed.
Cooperate with the Captain and Staff Captain of the new vessels for coordination and testing of the safety systems during the Sea Trials and until delivery.
Cooperate with the Logistics team for all Safety Owners Furnished Equipment (OFE).
Coordinate with QA/QC representative to evaluate reports and follow-up quality issues in general.
Any other duty as assigned by the Marine Superintendent.
Required Qualifications:
Broad understanding of shipbuilding, naval architecture, and ship design.
Demonstrated strong written and verbal communications skills (English)
Knowledge of latest new buildings, including specification items and latest environmental technologies.
Knowledge and experience working with regulatory bodies, such as Classification Societies.
Extensive knowledge of the cruise ship operation and Safety systems.
Strategic thinker; able to see the big picture and make solid business decisions in managing projects
Independent and proactive

Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
