About the CGI Organization
The Commerce, Growth & Identity (CGI) team is pivotal to Disney’s transformation, developing cutting-edge solutions to drive subscriptions, engagement, and monetization across our streaming and digital platforms. Our mission spans customer acquisition, retention, partnerships, pricing, and identity management, always striving to deliver the best value for Disney customers across all digital products.
The CGX Team is a newly formed team based out of the San Francisco office and you will be one of the early engineers on the team influencing the architecture and development of a branch new Offer Management Platform - tooling and backend services. We are a fast paced and fast growing team, where you will have an opportunity to learn about the international landscape and challenges in the area of billing, payments, subscriptions, promotions and offers as our streaming services launch around the world over the next few years.
As a Lead Software Engineer on the CGX Team, you will collaborate on developing key growth and commerce features across Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+. Working with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers, you’ll contribute to Disney’s strategic initiatives and bring your technical expertise to enhance the customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Feature Development: Implement impactful, customer-facing features with attention to performance and scalability.
- Experimentation: Build and deploy A/B tests in collaboration with cross-functional partners to refine product experiences.
- System Contributions: Support system improvements focused on scalability and performance.
- Collaborative Support: Work alongside peers to troubleshoot issues and deliver high-quality code.
- Documentation and Quality: write, debug, test, and document code that meets high standards of quality and maintainability.
- Reliability and Resilience: Develop reliable systems with a focus on stability, supporting on-call responsibilities as needed.
- Effective Communication: Proactively communicate with cross-functional stakeholders to clarify requirements, manage expectations, and resolve ambiguities in a dynamic environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- BS/MS Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- 7+ years of experience in a technical field
- Experience in comparing and evaluating competing technologies/languages/libraries to solve complex problems. (Java, AWS)
- Experience working on applications using Functional Programming languages (Scala/Haskell/Clojure/Lisp) as well as web interfaces (ES6, CSS3).
- Excellent grasp of software development fundamentals, software design patterns and functional programming paradigms.
- Prior experience working with React/Redux or similar frameworks for UI rendering and state management.
- Experience working with relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL) as well as NoSQL (DynamoDB/Cassandra)
- Independent, proactive and able to deliver production-ready code with minimal guidance
- Strong motivation in picking up new domains and writing and shipping well-tested code
- Excellent collaboration skills and ability to work with multi-functional business partners ● Strong interpersonal and project coordination skills
Nice to haves
- Experience/interest in evangelizing Functional Programming designs/paradigms.
- Experience presenting and advocating for architectural/technological choices.
- Experience working with workflow driven complex internal tools.
The hiring range for this position in San Francisco is $163,500 - $219,200 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
