Product Engineering is a unified team responsible for the engineering of Disney Entertainment & ESPN digital and streaming products and platforms. This includes product engineering, media engineering, quality assurance, engineering behind personalization, commerce, lifecycle, and identity.

Job Summary:

We’re seeking a Senior Manager of software engineering who will lead our Mobile App Foundation teams responsible for the foundational components, libraries, and frameworks that power our Disney+ and Hulu mobile applications. The right person for this role is highly motivated, collaborative, and technical, with the ability to coordinate across teams and empower both themselves and others in striving for and achieving excellence. Everything we do directly affects millions of global consumers, their experience with our service, and impacts our business.  

Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:

  • Manage mobile development teams, provide guidance, direction, and career development to team members. Accountable outcomes across teams.

  • Responsible for Disney+ and Hulu mobile application development and releases. Oversee code development in Kotlin, Swift and other application development technologies.

  • Oversee team planning and project management, ensuring projects align with team goals and organizational timelines.

  • Collaborate across disciplines with UX designers, product managers, and engineering leadership to build best-of-class, performant streaming experience and platform.

  • Develop departmental vision and strategy. Foster trust, set goals, offer guidance, and provide constructive feedback across peers and stakeholders

Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training:

  • 10+ years of experience in mobile application development with expert knowledge of Swift, Kotlin, and Apple/Android Frameworks and ecosystems.

  • 4+ years of technical and engineering leadership experience.

  • Experience leading multiple teams, including delegating responsibility and balancing competing priorities.

  • Experience partnering with stakeholders in Product and Design to curate a roadmap that meets the needs of the business while ensuring the ongoing health of your teams

  • Effective collaboration and communication skills, able to discuss technical topics clearly and engage in productive technical discussions.

  • High emotional intelligence, experience maintaining composure under high-pressure situations and meeting tight deadlines.

  • Strong project management skills, seeing projects through from inception to completion.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or better in Computer Science or a related technical field or equivalent job experience.


The hiring range for this position in San Francisco is $206,400 - $276,700 and New York City is $197,400 - $264,700. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
