The Disney Entertainment & ESPN (DE&E) Technology Design team thinks beyond what is possible today. They discover, disrupt, and chart a course to where our fans and consumers will be next. Design brings the Disney magic to life by building digital customer experiences via the entire portfolio of both consumer-facing products and internal products and tooling. This includes Sports, Entertainment, News, Streaming and Enterprise Products and Experiences.

Summary:

As a Senior Manager, Infrastructure & DevOps in the Ads Platforms organization, you will need to bring a diverse set of skills to help the leadership team drive teamwork, innovation, and results for the organization. You will use a combination of technical and interpersonal skills to drive improvements while being in charged of defining strategy and owning the execution of that strategy. You'll have high interaction with our leadership team and multi-functional colleagues (engineering, architecture, operations, other infrastructure leaders, and more) to develop strategy, set long-term goals, and create/lead execution plans. Day-to-day, you’ll make sure our teams are delivering strong results and with quality against our priorities. You'll be accountable for the growth of the individuals in your group, which includes everything from 1:1’s to career progression plans.

Responsibilities:

  • We partner and collaborate with leaders across the organization to understand their requirements and priorities in order to coordinate and meet their needs for infrastructure, CI/CD, observability, and to provide support for changes, releases and incidents

  • We continuously iterate, and work to optimize, the team’s processes, practices, and Agile methodologies to ensure that we deliver a high level of value, efficiency, quality, and reliability

  • We contribute to creating a high-performance culture that is innovative and uses resourcefulness to tackle sophisticated problems and deliver strong value for Disney’s Ad Sales business and Ad Technology organization

  • We work to implement and carry out security standard methodologies, compliance and disaster recovery requirements which ensures the security, integrity and continuity of systems and data; including identity and access management, encryption, logging, vulnerability scanning, code analysis, compliance automation and DR failover testing

  • We proactively lead processes that ensure our environments are proactively patched, vulnerabilities remediated, and databases are configured and backed up to prevent any data loss

  • We partner closely with engineering and architecture teams to implement scalable, secure, reliable and resilient cloud architectures using industry leading best practices

  • We develop and implement a DevOps and cloud infrastructure strategy, aligning it with the organization’s and business goals, to consistently improve system reliability, scalability, and availability through refining goals, processes, and technologies

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of people leadership & management experience leading strong technical teams

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience

  • Strong partner and communicator, capable of articulating everything from the team vision and strategy to detailed technical concepts to multi-functional partners

  • Ability to make decisions in ambiguous situations and a fast-paced environment with frequently evolving business needs.

  • Experience leading teams of 10 engineers and managing people leaders.

  • Effective communicator who can work cross functionally across an organization environment of continuous improvement.

  • Positive track record in recruiting talent and building, leading, mentoring, and developing globally distributed teams.

  • Expertise and experience in building out large-scale, high-throughput critically important consumer-facing systems.

  • Proficient at applying agile development, continuous integration and continuous delivery practices in infrastructure engineering, DevOps and technical operations teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a technical discipline such as Computer Science, Software Engineering or related, is highly desirable

  • Proven work experience in Ad Serving or Ad Technology platforms

  • Experience working with vendor teams to deliver high quality results

  • Strong curiosity about how Disney delivers the Magic and a desire to be a part of it!


The hiring range for this position in Los Angeles, CA is $180,646 to $242,330 year, in San Francisco is $197,866 to $265,40 per year, and New York, NY or Seattle, WA is between $189,256 – $253,880. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
