Job Summary:

 As a Pipeline Technical Director (TD) or Technical Assistant Intern, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the dynamic world of visual effects production. You will work closely with our Pipeline TDs, artists, and supervisors to develop and maintain the software and technical infrastructure that drives our creative process. This internship will provide hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and optimizing workflows to streamline production pipelines. 

What will you be doing?

  • Assist in the development of custom tools and scripts to automate repetitive tasks, improve workflow efficiency, and address production challenges.

  • Collaborate with the Pipeline TD/Technical Assistant team to enhance and expand our production pipelines, focusing on efficiency, reliability, and scalability.

  • Integrate third-party software and plugins into our pipeline, ensuring seamless compatibility and performance optimization.

  • Provide technical support to artists and production teams, diagnosing and resolving pipeline-related issues in a timely manner.

  • Document workflows, tools, and best practices to facilitate knowledge transfer and ensure consistency across projects.

  • Stay updated on the latest trends, technologies, and techniques in the VFX industry, exploring innovative solutions to enhance our pipeline capabilities.

 To be a contributing member of this team, you will have a mix of these skills:

  • Currently pursuing a degree or a graduate in Creative Productions, Computer Science, Computer Graphics, or a related field.

  • Familiarity or Knowledge in programming skills, with proficiency in Python and/or other scripting languages commonly used in VFX production or coding experience in another language.

  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development practices.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, independent, and a proactive self-starter.

  • Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Prior experience with VFX software packages (e.g., Maya, Houdini, Nuke) and/or an understanding of VFX production workflows and techniques is a plus.

Tech Internship Program Details:


The Internship program will start on the 5th of August, 2024 and is a 3 month opportunity for an intensive and fully immersive experience. This is a paid position.

Applicants must reside in NSW at the commencement of the program and provide proof of long-term eligibility to work in Australia. We are not able to provide assistance for relocation, housing, transportation, or work authorisation for the Internship.
