Job Summary:

At the direction of the Executive Director, the Associate Sales Manager will be responsible for assisting with corporate sales, sponsor fulfillment and marketing for the Armed Forces Bowl & First Responder Bowl.  Functions will include but are not limited to the following: selling corporate packages, servicing of corporate sales partnerships from execution of contract to post game wrap up reports, implement marketing plan, liaison to ad agency, social media lead, assigned operational duties to fulfill on game day and will be an active participant in community events that help drive revenue and event awareness.  Must possess strong communication and writing skills along with the ability to organize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Represent our company, with a comprehensive understanding of the Armed Forces Bowl, First Responder Bowl, and ESPN Events.
  • Generate sales revenue through the mining of new sponsorships via various sales techniques (i.e. Cold emailing/calling, in-person meetings, zoom, etc.).
  • Prepare and deliver sales presentations to potential clients.
  • Follow legal corporate contract model and deliver accordingly to client for signature.  Work with ESPN legal department as needed.
  • Support sales efforts through proper fulfillment of sales elements and assists in identifying opportunities for sponsorship growth.
  • Service and execute all corporate sales partnerships.  Includes the day-to-day management of accounts, the collection of advertising materials and providing quality customer service.
  • Work directly with ESPN Events team members on executing all sponsor media elements from TV commercials to in-game features.
  • Keep up to date all corporate sales and inventory rate card reports.
  • Responsible for making sure all corporate partners are invoiced accordingly by the proper accounting team member.
  • Have a working understanding of Digideck, Sponsor United and any other sales platforms that are brought forth. 
  • Work in conjunction with ESPN Events team members on providing sponsor inventory to be tracked properly for key wrap-up reports.
  • Build digital wrap up reports.
  • Assist in building a marketing plan.
  • Execute approved marketing plan.
  • Liaison to bowl’s ad agency
  • Responsible for executing and providing bowl advertising to various outlets.
  • Oversee the front and back end of the bowl’s website.
  • Oversee and grow social media initiatives.
  • Establish credible relationships with local business communities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize work across multiple event deadlines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and always remain open to additional roles allocated by ESPN Events.

Basic Requirements:

  • 2 years of experience in a professional setting
  • 2 years of sales fulfillment experience and understanding of sales process
  • Strong computer skills including knowledge and use of all Microsoft office programs
  • Team player

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience in a sport or event related capacity including a professional team, local organizing committee, Convention & Visitors Bureau, athletic department, or other related business.
  • Experience in sales with emphasis on corporate and group ticket sales.
  • Experience in marketing and understanding of event operations.
  • Agency and media experience preferred.
  • Strong writing skills and familiar with AP style.
  • Understanding of college football and the college bowl system.

Basic Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising or Mass Communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience

Preferred Education:

  • Masters in Sports Marketing
