Job Summary:

As a Program Development Graphic Designer, you will manage and coordinate graphic design projects from concept through completion. You will use your artistic abilities to create design elements such as images, colors, fonts, logos, and shapes in computer software programs, such as Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop, to communicate visual messaging for the parks, hotels, Downtown Disney District, and backstage locations. You will collaborate with leaders and Company contacts to design and develop internal and external signage, collateral, and amenities while following the brand guidelines and gaining proper approvals. You’ll have the opportunity to work with printers and vendors to oversee the production/installation of signage or print materials or fabricates signage in-house. The ideal candidate must be able to thrive in a deadline driven, fast-paced, and flexible work environment.

This position is on-site and reports to the Program Development Project Manager.

Basic Responsibilities

  • Initial Conversation/Concept with client- vision, scope and design aspects of project are discussed. Current and former projects include Guest and Cast facing signage and collateral.

  • Brainstorming- research for inspiration on style, colors, etc., confirm if there are company resources already available, reach out to contacts for working files and original artwork, start sketch phase.

  • Digital Composition- Build/create the design and dimensions of the artwork and design in either Adobe Illustrator or InDesign

  • Approvals- Confirm artwork with client and go through approvals. Approval process includes promotional clearances, legal branding, and working with contacts at various studios (Lucasfilm, Pixar, Marvel, Walt Disney Studios/Archives, Brand and Legal) to receive approvals for use of images and design elements.

  • Production- Work with printer or vendor to ensure correct bleeds, fonts, size, dimensions, materials, quantity, installation, etc. 

  • Fabrication and Installation- Fabricate and install physical signage utilizing latest technology in signage production including Latex/UV printers and flatbed cutter/router.

  • Shop Maintenance- Maintain machines and cleanliness of shop. Order and receive supplies.

Basic Qualifications

  • Proven experience with Adobe Illustrator and InDesign required

  • Ability to work in a flexible and fast-paced environment

  • Solid understanding of color theory, graphic design, and visual creativity

Required Education

  • Degree in Graphic design or relevant work experience

The hiring range for this position in California is $64,300 - $86,200 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
